Great phone, near perfect
I picked this up as a refurbished phone to replace an older Samsung model. It's so light it feels like one of those empty demo units you often see at the phone kiosks. It is quite a little powerhouse though and doesn't seem to get hung up on any popular apps including video or productivity. I don't play games on my phone so I don't have an opinion on that. Pro's: Light, stylish, pretty powerful, tons of accessories available for it, quick for everyday apps and productivity apps, bright screen with great resolution, great primary camera, LTE speeds if the network you're on supports the bands the version of phone you have has. Con's: - Battery life - I'm not a power user and the battery burns out really quick (5 am to 6 pm) with light to medium internet use for e-mail and research and texting and I'm at 25% by then. - Gets really hot near the camera when being used heavily. Heat is never good for electronics and that heat is coming from directly below the SIM and SD card slots. Back your data up just in case it burns the SIM/SD readers or your cards out. - Phone by itself is a fingerprint magnet and very slippery. Don't even think about using this phone without a case. It will slip/go flying out of your hand very easily. The surfaces are very smooth hard plastic and aluminum. Looks really nice but the aesthetics come at the price of utility. This is the second one of these I've purchased. The first one was for my daughter. It's been very reliable (3 months so far) and I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Refurbished

Dead on Arrival
Phone did not work. The first time I plugged it in, the screen flashed for a split second then turned back off. It has remained unresponsive since. I have tried different chargers for it with no change. I may play around with it to see if I can fix it when I have time and will update review as appropriate, but the only real reason I wanted it was for a cheap backup camera for Halloween as well as the nostalgia of having a working S4 again, neither of which is a very pressing concern anymore. Great phone for the money, with exception of Mfg defect/Sim card error
Love this phone, no complaints with seller. Phone works great when it works, however it has a major Mfg flaw that Samsung is well aware of. An error message will pop up saying 'no Sim card detected, please restart' It can happen 10 times a day, other days once, but it's quite annoying. Replacing Sim card doesn't fix it. It's a flaw within the phone. I found out by googling that there are hundreds of people with the S4 who have this problem. Phone is awesome when it works, and sucks when the Sim card error repeatedly pops up. beginner smart phone user
I like the idea that I can make a purchase with this phone going down the road at 60 mph. I can play music over my truck stereo using bluetooth. I can even navigate just like the Rand McNally GPS. I keep in touch with my dispatch with this phone parred to my hearing aids check that out. bluetooth hearing aids with my phone parred to them. I can go hands free like all of those people that have the bluetooth devices in their ears HA HA! I like all those apps I am still learning how to use them. Cannot turn off
I don't use the phone much except for talk and text. For that it works very well. It is a nice size and easy to carry in pocket. Battery life probably average as I charge it every other day even though not used a lot. The problem I have is that I cannot turn it off. The screen turns off, but not the phone. It will reboot itself as soon as I turn it off. I have tried several suggestions found online, but no answer. Called T-Mobile and Samsung support. Took it to a Samsung rep at Best Buy and she thought it was a hardware problem. Would be a nice phone without that problem.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great little phone still today in 2017. For only $80 it's a steal. And you can still get new batteries for cheap. There is also a huge mod community for these things so you can get newer or custom Android operating systems. Outstanding value.
Although outdated by the S6 & S7, it is still an excellent phone at a price that can't be beat. It has a performance profile that nearly matches the iPhone 6a except for the feeling of quality build.
