Gripping and thought provoking
This movie is closer to the book than the first movie that was made in the sixties. It is gripping and thought provoking. Very interesting watching it with the director commentary turned on, after first watching the movie. It is hard to believe that Dominque Swan who plays Lolita had never acted before.

Nabokov's Lolita is a literary masterpiece ,& this film does justice to the book. Much better than Kubrick's film made in the 1960s. Controversial & heartbreaking, with an astonishing performance by DomingueSwain in her debut at the age of 16. Great musical score, visually lush, & extremely provocative. Buy it!
