    A Great Lens - Used

I was able to pick up one of these, used, but in excellent condition, with the hood and both lens caps. Retail new around $379 ... got it used from Japan $200 with free shipping, Great weather proof lens as an all purpose walk around. Solid metal build quality (but heavy), very sharp, and a very utilitarian lens. Unless you need a super telephoto you can leave the rest of your lenses at home. If you have this ...I only see the need for a quality prime 28 or 35mm f2,8 or faster for low light shooting. I use this on a Pentax K5 which is an APS-C so the actual focal length in 35mm film terms is 27-200mm. Glad I got it .The seller from Japan also shipped it quickly, I had it in less than a week.

    Smooth no Sharp

Yes this lens is smooth durable , I like it that it is light weight and small but don't expect to be that sharp also you can easy find the dark corners in very large aperture when you take picture . Generally it is what you need so far . Thanks

  • Good sharp lens, that is also Weather Proofed

Takes good sharp ,colour accurate pictures throughout the focal range, best at 35 to 120 mm and at 5.6 F or higher, but still very good outside those ranges. A perfect walk around lens for outdoor work mountain climbing, on safari or in harsh climates like wind swept beaches, desert and the like while hiking.

  • Great no brain use lens

If you don't want to carry several lenses with you that lens is the choice for good average results. This is actually improved in optics18-55mm kit. Pros: Compact size - For a superzoom lens, it's actually quite compact, noticeably smaller and lighter than any 18-2xx zoom out there. It is weather sealing and that makes it perfect for holidays and travelling in any demanding weather conditions. Fast auto focus and at a reasonable price (I bought it for $199 on E-bay). Cons: Sharpness outside the center is poor with visible distortion and CA. Conclusion: Great lens for general purposes and no brain use situations.

  • Simply a wonderful lens for travel and all around!

My copy of this lens is awesome! It's sharp, and the auto focus is fast and accurate on my K3. For me it's the perfect travel lens. On a recent vacation I brought several lenses with me, but this lens never came off the camera! No need to! Love it!

  • Great but its a compromise

A great lens in very good condition, almost Mint. And I'm enjoying usig it, but highly priced for what it is. For example, I have a Tamron 18-200 brand new that matches optical performance, although it's not WR rated. Happy with my purchase thought, as it's lighter to carry around than the Tamron 200 and very fast to focus AF

  • A good, inexpensive lens for everyday shooting.

This is a good lense when you don't want to carry, or you can't afford, to carry a bunch of prime lenses. The lens is relatively light-weight and the zoom range works for most everyday shooting situations. It is not as sharp as a good 100mm macro lens and not as good in low light as a good 35mm lense, but it is a lot cheeper. For me, it works well. One negative: I bought this lens to replace one that failed.

  • Very good!

This lens was a major upgrade from the 18-55 mm kit lens. Image is sharper and generally an upgrade across all points. For an all purpose zoom lens it is great!

  • Great success

It arrived without problems from across the world, decent shipping time too. First look proved that it was in excellent condition, no obvious damage at all, hardly any dust even. I have tried it a little bit in my neighborhood and it worked great, very quiet and quick focus, images turned out well but I haven't done any super close examination on my computer yet. I will test the lens more properly on a trip and check the results carefully but so far I am very happy with this fine lens at a good price.

  • Best All in One Lens

Fantastic Travel Camera. Picture quality is miles ahead of the kit lens. The zoom range is adequate. While there are times I'd wish the reach was better, at this price point any more would sacrifice image quality. Great lens for traveling and when switching primes back and forth just isn't an option.
