  • Once best in class, still viable a dozen years later

This was a state of the art full-frame camera in 2009 when it was first available. It still makes excellent pictures and is a decent way to get into full-frame digital photography on a budget nowadays, but there are better and cheaper alternatives if all that is wanted is outstanding photo reproduction quality projected on a computer screen. But if you also want to make 11x14 prints, or larger, this is a way to go, if you don't mind the fairly complex controls (that nevertheless give the user a great deal of opportunity to customize) and the heavy weight of the camera. Yesterday I compared its weight to the old Nikon F that I have, which has seemingly gotten a little heavier with each passing decade; and this 5D was noticeably much, much heavier. Not the camera to lug around every day unless one is young and strapping. Oh, and it also has video capabilities, which at the time were revolutionary and accounted for its popularity. Definitely still viable, on account of the high quality of its photos (as long as you have high quality Canon lenses, not the kit lenses Canon sells)--you won't get better quality at the same price.

  • Solid, quality camera

Excellent, well-built camera. It’s very easy to use in fully automatic mode but definitely has a learning curve to take advantage of its full potential.

  • Best used band for the buck

A pivotal product from Canon without much real improvement for over 10 years now. Canon made some 40x60" prints for me from this camera and they look fantastic. What more do you want?

  • Canon eos 5d mark ii

Getting up in age but for landscape and portrait get this and spend extra on a couple L lenses and it’s still a champ
