Great watch!
The Promaster Sky JY8025-59E First, let's start with the finish. It's a titanium watch with the DLC (Diamond Like Coating) that is only available from Japanese retailers. This gives the finish a semi-gloss gunmetal gray color. This finish is hard, and scratch resistant so will survive anything. But be careful on those who use an aluminum computer like the MacBook! The glass is sapphire crystal, meaning an extra hard surface. Again, on option usually only available from Japanese retailers OR if you get your watch and send it to Citizen in Torrance CA. It is a flat crystal, so you won't have the dome nor glare affects of some of the other crystals. The bracelet is a double clasp type. This means that not only do you have the typical "squeeze on the sides" to open up, but there is a folding clasp which covers the regular clasp in order to keep it secure. In addition, there's a "micro adjustment" which is about the size of a full link in one-third increments. In the winter, downsize and in the summer when your wrist swells during the day, increase the number of available links. For pilots, the following may be useful to you: This watch also includes an indigo orange backlight. The secondary time zone can be set to UTC. This can help in processing weather reports a little bit easier (otherwise do the math in your head). The E6B bezel works, and you won't have to worry about it coming off as it's internal and beneath the crystal, controlled by the dial at the 8:00PM position. The E6B has very little play and very little wobble, but bring your 20 / 20 eyesight, because the numbers are small - and there is little chance of being able to use it in flight. Fuel lbs has a mark set at 77 which is weird to guy using 6 lbs / gallon for AV gas, but ignore it if you want, and set it appropriately. The atomic clock (set for the western States) comes in just fine, and was off by less than 3 minutes when I received the watch. The battery took a few days of wearing to finally come up to fully charged and has been at full during this winter (rainy and cloudy). The luminescent hands do work, for about 2 hours before fading out. A quick flash from a light source will keep you going for another few hours. High water resistant (about WR200) except if you pull out the adjustment/setting dial (3:00), and the titanium isn't going to get damaged as you precheck your flight, unless you're one of those low wing individuals and have to get on your knees to sump your fuel, then the DLC will be worth its weight. Overall, it's a stylish watch, durable and looks like it's built to last. Its dark semi-gloss color helps it go with casual clothing, and semi-formal dress. Good cockpit watch? No, as I'm torn between my Casio G-Shock with the tilt backlight which is easily readable in bouncy air, and the looks of this one.
