  • Poor quality

I reviewed another DVD from the same company and this one is just about the same as far as quality. The movie itself is very entertaining. The DVD is poorly produced. Looks to be a VHS to DVD dub. There is dropout and sometimes tracking lines like when a VHS tape doesn't play cleanly. It looks like a multiple generation VHS dub. Just poor quality. And for whatever reason, the company decided to stick their logo temporarily in the lower right hand corner of the picture. Can't understand why a reputable company would pass this off as acceptable.

  • Screwball mystery extraordinaire

This was a difficult title to find! It's a wonderful screwball mystery with the greatest screwball of them all, Gracie Allen. It's an engaging Philo (she calls him Fido) Vance mystery as well, with a reasonably complex plot & a very good twist. A film of its time, when people would go see a movie for an hour and a half on a Saturday afternoon, before there was TV. Image & sound quality good for the time. Black & white.

  • Fun to watch the young Gracie Allen

I enjoyed this movie very much!!!! It was fun to see how young Gracie Allen looked in the 30s!!! Actuality she looks very youthful in the 1950's George and Gracie TV series too!!! Of course the movie's mystery story is silly, but that's part of the fun!!!! Wonderful old fashioned wholesome humor and comedy!!! We seniors really enjoy old movies; while younger generations are so consumed with Hi Definition technology to get the pleasure we do. Frankly, I think the movie picture was quite clear for its era and that it was restored to the way it looked on the big screen in the movies theaters of the 1930's---and there was not any of that HDTV picture back then!!!
