Value for barbers! To use this stuff properly, thoroughly wet your face and rub the stick with a bit of pressure on the stubble until you can see a layer forming (you shouldn't use the stick to build lather).

  • Great Product, Great Price.

Arko should be in every wet shaver's rotation. I have been using it for years as it is one of the best priced quality Tallow-based soaps available. It lathers very easily and is quite slick. It also has a lemon soap scent which doesn't last so it won't clash with Cologne or Aftershave. Terrific for everyday use or for travel as shave sticks take up almost no room in one's Dopp kit.

  • I had been looking for a product that works as well as this for 30-40 years!

I spent numerous decades trying to find a product that produced a close even shave, using my wet/dry electric shaver as a first stage. After that first stage, I go on to the second stage of my shave, when I go over the first stage with a blade and get the few hairs or areas of the face missed by the electric wet/dry first stage. Inevitably I ended up blaming the Braun Series 7 or Panasonic wet/dry shaver for missing so much, including whole areas of the face! Using the ARKO stick and brush consistently gets all the facial hair in the first stage so that there is nothing left for the blade to cut.

  • 2Me, a new way to shave, actually, been here for Decades

So, I am 66 years old, and a proud displayer of a bald head! So I recently purchased and am now using, a shaving brush, with Badger hairs, and these ARKO shaving soap sticks. I now fully understand why this type of Shaving has never, and probably will never, go away. It was a good clean easy shave. Added bonus, to me a very good smelling product. This product however, will probably not be for everyone. It takes time, patience, and a lot of concentrated effort just a shave. So odds are if you work, have a tight schedule, or always undergone, this may not be your cup of tea. Those people we'll probably use a can of shaving cream and some generic, cookie cutter type shaving blades. However, if you can invest the time and be patient to do it right, this will probably be one of the closest and best shape of your life. So, as I am retired, I have the time, and the patients to put into shaving. So, for now this is the way I shave and I'm extremely happy with the results.

  • Great lather...

If you are looking for an inexpensive lathering soap, Arko is the way to go. Very affordable and easy to lather with. It’s quite amazing how much facial protection this cheap in price soap gives you. Considering the price and quality you can’t go wrong with Arko, I recommend it to everyone for an easy lather.

  • Best shaving soap I've used

The best shaving soap I've used in over 60 years of shaving. By applying directly from the stick onto a wet beard, and dipping your brush in hot water, you can develop a great lather, and if it starts cooling, just dip your brush in hot water again and rework. Also, because you don't have it in the shaving mug where it stays moist, it doesn't turn to slime before it's used up. Shaving once a day, one stick will normally last at least 8 months or more.

  • Really good shaving soap

I've been using Arko shaving soap for at least 5 years now. This is a really good shaving soap. I like the fact that it lathers easy and fast with no bowl or shaving mug needed. That makes it good for traveling. I use this soap to shave my head.

  • Great tallowy, soapy, slick replacement for discontinued Williams...Imho.

Smells good (like lemons), very slick, and I get great shaves. I needed a replacement for the now discontinued Williams. I formed the stick into a puck to fit in my mug. The scent does tone down a bit. Arko is a great if not better replacement.

  • Excellent soap

Always able to get a rich and thick lather. Very protective and slick. I use it with my Muhle R41. Close shave and not too harsh. Muhle R41 being VERY aggressive. Smell is very refreshing to me. Lemony smell. All you need to start a good morning. And... It is so inexpensive. I personally took out the soap from its package and put it into a glass pot using my thumbs to smash it down.

  • Works, but difficult to lather with a badger brush

The Product works ok, but you have to make adjustments to your shave. I could not get a rich lather with a brush. I massaged the stick several times on my face to get it to work. I softened the stick sitting in a bowl of hot water to spread it easier. The soap is quite hard. It does get slippery, but the lather is thin.
