Slash Alnico II Pro Humbucker Set. Turns out, the new guitars sounded noticeably different than the original. So, we accepted the challenge to make him a new pickup that would make all of his new signature guitars sound just like the original AFD Les Paul.

About this product

Product Information

This set of Seymour Duncan pickups honors the guitarist Slash with his first ever signature pickups. The APH-2 pickups are designed to bring Slash’s recording sounds to live performances. The Alnico II Pro Slash features the same modifications as Slash’s signature 1986 recording axe. It sports a single-conductor cable, a wooden spacer, and even a long-legged bottom plate. It’s the perfect set of pickups if you’re looking for the elusive sound that made Slash a legend.

  • Very nice pickups, hard to balance in my guitar.

So I ordered a Seymour Duncan Slash Alnico II Pro set for my Gibson SG. I didn't love the Gibson 498t that was in the bridge position so I decided to try something else. First of all both pickups sound great. Smooth, well rounded, very nice. Only problem was with my SG it was difficult to balance the volume between the neck and bridge pickups. The neck pickup was a lot louder no matter how much further away from the strings it was. I think part of the issue is that my SG has a full pick guard and the pickups, especially the bridge pickup sits at a bit of an angle to the strings. Also these pickups have almost the same resistance for neck and bridge. I ended up swapping the bridge pickup for a Custom Custom. Similar pickup with more output. This worked much better for me. Nice sounding, well made pickups. Just a little hard to balance in my guitar.

  • Versatile

Alnico 2 is now my favorite Les Paul pick up type. These are well balanced and they really let the wood on the guitar do its magic. You can definitely get the Appetite for Destruction tone with a fair amount of gain, yet you can dial in a very luxurious clean warmth. I spent a little time working with the pickup height on my set up, the result is just amazing.

  • Very versatile

These pickups sound great and work with many types of music from rock to metal and can easily pull off country.

  • Excelent pickups. Good match for Gibson Les Paul guitars.

Perfect for the tone I've been looking for for a long time. A perfect match for Gibson Les Paul guitars. They are versatile too for other kinds of rock and metal too. An upgrade to burstbuckers for sure, even the modded burstbuckers in the 2020 Slash signature guitars. I'm sure Slash would change them out for these Seymor Duncans anyway, whether its for APH-1 or APH-2's. Only downside, as they are single conductor, if you want split coil, you will have to splice a wire from between the two coils. Not sure if it will affect the humbucking tone, but I don't imagine it would too much. Great pickups and I am very impressed.

  • Awesome…

These pickups are amazing… everything from country to Metal… definitely not nearly as hot as all of my other pickups and I wasn’t sure if I would like them for that reason… Chord’s are crisp and clean and well balanced… When you add some dirt they scream and can handle all the distortion you want while still sounding clear, not at all muddy… Definitely recommend these….

  • Marshall studio vintage head

Amp was an open box deal, I’m assuming it was a floor demo model however, it arrived looking brand new and untouched in the original box with all factory paperwork included. It functions perfectly and sounds great!

  • Grit and true balls

Yea If you want your les Paul to “grow a pair “ then put these PU in it’s a great choice for a solid body traditional great sustain and raspy chords yet sweet and mellow on the solos

  • Rock sound

Installed in a 2009 Epiphone LP Standard along with CTS Pots, upgrade switch, cable Jack and shielded wire throughout. Totally different guitar, awesome sound and definition, far superior to standard pickups and wiring
