Star Wars Episode VIII The Last Jedi

I really liked this movie period! I am a fan of the original Trilogy Star Wars IV A New Hope, V Empire Strikes Back, VI REturn of The Jedi. That said this movie is a block buster movie. Yes, it was made by Disney. Lucas sold the Star Wars fanchise unfortunately that's true. But, Mark Hamill is old now and he can't go on fighting the Empire & the New Order forever. Fans need to get real about this. He Luke Sky walker was retained for a very long time. The female main character plots were quite good, Carie Fischer reprised her role as Princess Leia, & there were some other excellent female role too in this continuing saga as well! The guys can't always be the heroes! I too, judged this on its own merits. A MEGA Block Buster Hit!! mark

Awful the worst movie of the year

This is garbage and so not star wars, the writing is pathetic it has more plot holes in it than Bonnie and Clyde's car and them. it an attempt at parody humor prove to be an utter failure, the writers and directors obviously did not see either the last 8 movies and most certainly not the force awakens where JJ Abrams created the boring no personality Marey Sue who is Rey, which Johnson carried on with her lack of personality and infallibility, the female leaders failed worse than the male ones did. the director shows a complete disrespect for the audience with his utter lack of understanding of basic physics. Then add in Leia as Mary Poppins the disrespectful character assassination of Luke Skywalker and Chewbacca with the stupid Porgs who Wookies and Ewoks would have feasted on. the admiral purple hair which was so obviously a failed cameo which that actress should be ashamed of, as Johnson rudely and dismissively kills admiral Ackbar a demeaning class C sci-fi movie with the best they can come up with for evil characters being a weepy eyed Emo Kylo Ren, then they turn it into a soap opera putting Rea super girl stunned almost into a relation ship with the pathetic EMO REN at best the director and producer are incompetent. Don't waste your money

  • A great movie, in my opinion

There were (and probably still are) a lot of fans who hated this movie, but I liked it a lot. I thought that it made sense for the way the overall story arc was headed. War sucks. And let's not forget that the original trilogy had it's share of dumb moments too. I loved the training scenes with Luke and Rey, and liked that it had some surprising moments too. I'm excited to see how the Skywalker saga ends in Episode IX.

  • A brave, bold new chapter

This is a review of the DVD only version of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. This edition comes with no bonus features, no free digital version, no bells or whistles, just a basic packaging with the DVD containing the movie. Luckily, it's inexpensive. I found it here on eBay for $10. It sells full retail for around $18. As for the movie itself, it's a wild ride with great action and some shocking twists to the old Skywalker saga that I absolutely loved. There is a small, but very vocal segment of the Star Wars fandom that did not like this movie, but I am not among them. The Last Jedi injects some much needed new energy into a movie franchise that is highly beloved but was beginning to be in danger of becoming too predictable.

  • The LAST LASt Jedi

Arrrghhhh. What can I add to the mountain of angst of the mess this film is. I went to a drive inn back in 1977 and watched Star Wars three times. I didn't understand it at that time but knew it was something that impacted my life. This movie was not made for kids but kids loved it. Waiting for the next movie in school all of us kids talked about it like it was a daily factor in all things. We had teachers (in my class anyhow) who had Star Wars parties that would have the Star Wars soundtrack being played during a party if they released a Star Wars poster set at McDonalds or a Burger King item set she'd get it and then have cookies and punch for the set for us to enjoy. All this stroll down memory lane because all of that was not just decimated it was corrupted and destroyed not because of female characters not because I was/am some kind of macho man whose intimidated by women as I have worked very well with female leadership in my working life in many functions either them being a manager or other positions above me. I've never had a person I couldn't be not only functional with and very positive even in times of depressing times working together for a great outcome. Why am I stressing this? I don't like someone who assumes too much about critical thinking. I do not like this movie first because there is so much sloppy writing and poorly written characters who were put in a place where their placement in the film made no sense and did nothing to propel the movie along. It failed in so many ways. I found myself playing my cellphone solitaire game when I was bored out of my tree by this inane story-line arc where the 'Resistance' has too little fuel to escape and the First Order has ships that have to slowly decimate the shields of the ships. I'm sorry Star Destroyers made little work on the Correllian corvette in A New Hope as they did in Return of the Jedi. The whole bomber ship from the beginning of the movie was a very silly story that again added nothing and made no sense that the bombers they had from the first trilogy weren't available which were faster and so forth the fuel issue makes no sense as does the issue about the vehicles. The ones who make the Tie Fighters are not the ones who make the X-Wings as the Mon Calamari who made these and the B-Wings and Y-Wings when defected to the Rebellion they brought those better ships to the Rebellion. I understand that Disney Lucasfilm wanted to ignore the non movie cannon. The problem with doing that is the books cannon fleshes out the reality of the universe. For them to say that it is just something to ignore then makes me say after this movie is that now the way they're doing this film franchise I can spend my money better for films franchises that don't insult me with calling me names like misogynist or hateful Trump voter. No I didn't vote for him but I really hate bullies and JJ and Kathleen Kennedy I find to be bullies when they call the fans of a product they're trying to make money off of. It's a really bad way to run a business. An effective way to run it into the ground and lose a business. Go back to school and learn this very important lesson.

  • An Underrated Sequel!

I don't understand why I noticed a lot of bad reviews with I posted my review on IMDB. If people gave this film a one or two then they should have walked out the theater in 20 minutes. I enjoyed this film, finally we see some strong female characters, in this film. We also saw them in The Force Awakens; and Rogue One. Yes, I very much loved the original films, but more of a female cast was the only problem with it. The only thing I disliked about The Last Jedi, is most of the original cast will be gone in the last film coming in 2019. Which makes me think can they still pull it off with with the new crew. I will always be a huge Star Wars fan, the prequels not so much too much CGI and bad acting. If you view The Last Jedi with an open mind you will enjoy it, but don't compare it to the originals.

  • Bare bones purchase.

Disc contained only the movie movie, guess these inexpensive disc of popular movies don't promise extra features and that's what it was, Same as rentals from Red Box.

  • This is not the Luke Skywalker you are looking for.

Star Wars. The Last Jedi has stunning Visual affects. Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) do exemplary acting performances. A complaint I have is that you go into it expecting to see Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, and instead you get a washed up hermit who gave up on The Force and life itself. I’m a die hard Star Wars fan sinc 1977. If I’m giving this 3 stars, it says something.
