    Alcatel 40440 Flip 2

This phone was bought for a senior citizen who wanted a flip phone and doesn't know how to access the Internet. This phone does support 4G LTE. However, the plan doesn't have a cellular data plan. If neccesary, the phone can access the Internet via Wifi. I bought a 32Gb SD memory card, the maximum amount this phone can handle. The instructions and/or settings are straight forward. I couldn't figure out how to migrate the old flip phone contacts to this new phone, so I manually entered the contacts to this new phone. Screen resolution is 240 x 320. The old flip phone could not view MMS text msgs, this phone can view MMS text, so the owner can view texted photos of relatives. So far, very good phone.

Handy and inexpensive, great for use as a telephone

Good value, lightweight. Works very well on Consumer Cellular. Battery lasts about one week as expected. Difficult to get the back off without just the right technique, but I haven't needed to go in there since first setting it up. I use it as a phone line for a handful of contacts, with very little if any texting. I've used this kind of keyboard before and I find that texting is not easy on this phone. I'm wishing simple candybar-style feature phones were available for 4G and 5G networks. For the time being we'll just have to keep an eye out... Meanwhile, this is certainly a good value for its price.

  • Forget the frills. Get this phones

Pro: I need to wear two hearing aids and they are one of the top brands. The phone price was fantastic and met my special needs. The volume flexibility is the best that I have ever been able to get on a flip phone. I am 80 and very active. Con: Any other color would have been great. Easier to find ,when misplaced.. The last phone I will ever need. Thanks. John Keller .

  • Good little device

Bought 2 of these Unlocked Alcatel Smartflip 4052R phones. One for my husband and one for me. My husband's old sim apparently needs to be converted from micro to nano so he didn't set his up yet. My old sim converted easily; man at the T-Mobile shop took a clipper and cut it to nano size in under a minute. Phone works fine on T-Mobile network. I only have / want talk-and-text service so I can't review all of the features. The Google Assistant pops up occasionally, indicating the online functions work if I choose to upgrade plan. Using my old 2G phone, I sometimes had to walk a block to get a signal. This 4G phone always gets a signal, and calls are clear with good volume. Texting is easy (T9, not QWERTY). Has other useful functions (timer; calendar; calculator; more...). Battery life is good. Enjoying this phone, it's a keeper.

  • could be better

wanted a new flip phone, this one has a 2.8 inch screen, so I thought it would be good, but there is no option to increase the size of the screen or remove the apps from the home screen. You mark them favorite and unfavorite, and the unfavorites end up going to the top of the screen. Weird. This is supposedly a good elderly phone, but making the apps deletable or bigger to see would help greatly. You are able to bump the font size up a little thru accessibility, but its still small.

  • "A very nice liteweight phone that offers a lot of great features".

If all you want is to have a phone for emergencies, it'll do the job. The Alatel is internet capable, however the screen is a little small to do any kind of serious work. I purchased the phone for my wife who just wanted a "plain phone". Well, the Alcatel is capable of al lot more if that is what you want. Be advised - TAKE THE TIME TO READ HOW THE PHONE WORKS AND HOW IT OPERATES!! Otherwise, you'll become frustrated and will disparage a pretty good phone. Is it for everyone? No. However, for those who don't need much it's great. Fo those who demand or need a variety of functions it probably won't make you happy. Why you ask? In order to set up some of the functions, it may frustrate those who want thing s to happen at the snap of their fingers. For my wife and myself, It's just perfect!

  • Overall it is not a bad phone I just wish it was better.

To start off I am 74.I just want a flip phone to make a few calls and receive fewer calls. My current flip is a Samsung Gusto from Verizon, that is a 3Gen which will not be supported by Verizon after December otherwise I would heve keep that one. For me this AT&T Flip 2 is too large has a shorter battery life, no additional ring tones and is slow to react to commands. Younger buyers that expect a phone to do more will be disappointed. This phone was one of the lest expensive, some of the higher priced ones may be better.

  • Flu Style Cell Phone

Bought this for my husband, he had one years ago and loved it. He has had the touch screen since and this is his second flip phone and he doesn't like it. Have to load the WIFI every time he wants to use internet a hassle he says.

  • Overall this phone is good for elderly people who can not use smart phone.

The only small issue is battery life. I charge my old Samsung basic flip phone once a week, this one is once every 3 days with only phone calls, no Internet or any other options used.

  • It fits my needs.

Everything works but when you haven't used a cell phone on a constant basic, the instructions can be overwhelming. I am still learning but overall it is what I expected for a flip phone with web access. Not many people know that there are flip phones that handle web browsing.
