Modern tech but reversible retro fitting not assured
For my installation it would require removal of points pivot pin from base plate. This means full commitment to electronic control as pivot pin is fixed to the base plate and would have to be cut off. Fine but for me in the event of the failure of the electronic ignition it would not be possible to re-install the original set of points and condenser and be on my way again. Instead, even with express delivery to my rural location, it would be days before I could get a replacement to hand. That is not an acceptable option.
Suspect the distributor and kit are not exactly compatible and establishing that situation required opening the pack, so now not able to return for exchange. Disappointing outcome. Have a new kit sitting on the shelf with likely hood of never being utilised, and an ignition system still running on points and condenser.
Also disappointing to learn on reading installation instructions that coper cored HT wire is not recommended. May well have elected not to invest in the kit at all had I known of this condition.
