Product Information
Experience the thrill of one of the world's premiere racing events on your Sega Dreamcast in Monaco Grand Prix. Choose from 16 tracks and three game modes as you race solo or against a friend using either your regular game controller or a steering wheel controller.

The primary modes of play are Arcade and Simulation. In the Arcade mode the cars are easier to handle and they can't be damaged. While in Simulation mode the cars handle realistically and can be damaged. Both modes feature such options as racing a simple race, a Grand Prix championship, a personalized championship or a time attack.

The third mode of play is Retro, which teleports you to the 1950s and the early days of car racing. There are four teams and eight cars to choose from. These cars are designed to handle realistically as well and because they were tough to drive in their time, this mode requires more practice than the other two. You can only join a simple race if you choose it, however.

In a simple race, all you have to do is choose your circuit and you'll find yourself sitting in the pole position for a race without having to qualify. Your starting position as well as the race's difficulty can be changed from the options menu.

If you select a championship, you've committed yourself to an entire season of Grand Prix races on all 16 tracks. Points are awarded depending on how you finish, and the overall winner at the end is the one with the most points. If you race in Simulation mode, you'll be able to fix problems with your car by pulling in for pit stops. In either mode various colored flags will appear during the race to warn you about certain conditions. Drive carefully or you could see a black flag that orders you to stop driving and leave the track.

In a personalized championship, players decide which race circuits should be included as well as which drivers will be participating. If you go for a time attack, your goal is to break lap records in a car that won't have any mechanical problems. You can choose from a free run, in which you race for as long as you want, or a ghost run, in which you see a ghost car representing your best time on the track with you.

Players can configure various race options such as weather, number of laps and competitors, and so forth before you race. Also, users have the ability to choose what rules should be enforced, such as false starts or practice session limit. All information can be saved to your Visual Memory Unit.Product Identifiers
