Fire starting flint set
Fire starting flint set; I will almost certainly never need this for survival, but considering the cost, the weight and compactness, I'm sure it makes great sense. I have twin boys in scouts, so it's great that I was able to get three, in three different colours. It packs up into a well sealed capsule, equipped with a keyring and a short wrist lanyard (I feel like you have to choose one, both won't work). Friends showed me how to prepare swatches of charred cotton tinder, which makes the process really easy. Serves the purpose but needs improvement.
Although small, it serves the purpose (Would recommend a bit longer rod, if you are relying completely on this), otherwise you can use a sharp object like knife, to ignite for campfire etc. Please note: You will need to use a separate sharp or rough metallic object to make this work, I used a knife (Refer to the picture).

Doesn't work
A very neat well made item, easy to carry, but... The rod isn't magnesium and it is very hard to get a small spark. The rod is covered in black coating which has to be removed before you can generate any spark. The instructions claim it is "proudly made in the USA", but I doubt this as the instructions are not English and are totally unintelligible.
