Simple manual operation, makes good short coffee from ground or pads (not pods) pads are like round tea bags, can make larger coffee by discharging hot water after green light comes on, when green light goes off turn water off, then repeat 1 or 2 times. Ok but not as good as other DeLonghi's we've had
