NotesThese astounding recordings started R.L. Burnside's career. The intensity of these songs foretells well the power of his great records to come. The songs on FIRST RECORDINGS capture Burnside at his home in 1968, when he was farming for a living and only playing for family and friends. R.L. Burnside is one of the most important figures in modern blues. Whether it's playing live, stripped down acoustic, electronica, electronica remixes or raw electric, R.L. music is the definition of Hill Country Blues.
I love R.L. BURNSIDE and his style of blues. Everything from his finger picking and thumb strumming to the riffs during his breakdowns are mesmerizing!!! I love his singing as well, he has a very cool sounding (poetic) sigh at the end of some of his phrases-I love that!!!
No disrespect to Howlin' Wolff, but R.L. Burnside is my favorite blues artist.
