    Oil change.

I used this product last week for the first time, I was very impressed with how easy it was to use, Al though you have to go out and pump it up a couple times more as it does loose its suction, but over all it's a great little tool. I'M GLAD I BOUGHT, Mike

  • Top critical review

    Did the job.

It managed to get most of the oil out eventually. I had to keep pumping it and It seemed to be pulling a good vacuum but the oil flowed very slowly. 2 hrs of pumping. I believe the problem was that the oil was still a bit cold. I only ran the boat engine for 5 minutes. It says run till oil is warm not hot but with hindsight at least if it was too hot it could/ would cool down. Anyway ive got arms like Popeye now and the oil change was done fairly cleanly. Good - it works and no mess. Bad - It took a lot of pumping and a long time. Overall though, it got the job done and Im happy about that.

  • Good but needs more end fittings

A good unit. Has a semi rigid pipe on the end to go into the sump which would work in most cases. However it didn't fit in my suction point so had to cut it off. It would be useful if it had a couple of interchangeable ends as I had to buy some adfitional pipe to fit my screw fitting onto. Good suction, but remember the oil needs to be warm for it to work!

  • You takes your chance!

Not sure what to say really, suffice to say things didn't go as planned. I managed to draw out approx 3 litres but then it seemed unable to draw anymore after that. It was my first attempt so maybe there was a little user error creeping in. I couldn't work out why it failed so I ended up tipping the oil back in and going down to local garage and paid £20 to have it done the old way. A bit disappointed at having spent out for the pump and ended up costing me extra!! Will try again in 6 months and see what happens.

  • Does the job

Not as good as I expected. Instructions advise not to remove oil when "hot", however difficult to judge oil temperature and if not hot enough is extremely slow to remove. Required numerous re-pressurizing before finally emptying the sump. Took approx. 45 minutes, but other service checks could be carried out while oil was being removed. I would not recommend it for anyone attempting to service several cars, but ideal for the DIY user

  • Clean way to extract fluids

The pela vacuum extractor is very well made and easy to use and assemble. It comes with full easy to read and follow instructions. It appears there 2 different insertion probe diameters this is about the 3/16 inch or 5mm diameter insertion tube model. This inserston tube is very strong in construction so you can thread it down the dip stick hole of an engine block, it is then connected to a larger clear tube which connects to the holding tank for the old fluid This round holding tank has the vacuum inside it by way of a hand operated pump on the top of the tank which is easy to fit and use. You need to keep the tank vacuum at a high level by pumping out the air every few minutes but it is really easy to do this and watch the old fluid filling the tank. To empty the tank just disconnect the extraction tube from the tank which is a push fit and place the pouring spout supplied on the same outlet which is a push fit and decant the old fluid into a suitable container for safe correct disposal at a recycle outlet Because of its simple clever design I have found no bad points with the one I have

  • Robust but it took over 45 minutes to remove the oil

The extractor is expensive and robust but it took over 45 minutes to remove the oil and had to be pumped every few minutes because it kept losing its vacuum. Also, 6 litres capacity should have held all of the oil extracted but it was near the top of the container and needed some oil removed before the job was complete. I contacted the help line and the suppliers who suggested checking the seals (ok) and suggested having the engine hotter than I had it before starting extraction and lowering the position of the pump. I will try that next year! The supplier kindly sent a replacement unit but it was only slightly better. At least the unit worked and the extractor tube was thin enough to go down the dip stick tube - some cheaper units have a fat tube. The pump non-return valve just needs to be better. Using an extractor may not be as thorough as removing the drain plug but I've spent enough of my life rolling under cars!

  • Excellent Product

Excellent product did the job very well when used for oil extraction. Nice clean and tidy

  • Excellent piece of kit

Perfect for removing oil and other fluids from engines, although it could be used for many, many things. Yes this costs more than others out there that look the same but the difference is in the details. The quality of this Extractor is above and beyond any other I have used at this price bracket. Quality piping with a semi-rigid end section makes sure you get to - and stay at - the bottom of an engine sump where lesser products use bendy pipe that can coil up inside. I wouldn't be without this ridiculously handy piece of equipment in my garage now. Perfect at its job.

  • Effective sump pump.

Works better than expected . Works better on thinner oils . Successfully drained machine sump trays far more efficiently than mopping up with absorbent mats or sponges. The trick is to keep tube free of any small debris as it's easily blocked by smallest of obstructions which get hoovered up towards suction point. Would buy again.
