  • 70% of your stopping power is your front brake.

Keeping your front and rear calipers clean is very simple, if they start to leak, feel mushy or just don't feel right, they might have to be just rebuilt, which is a simple process, and you do not have to buy a whole new caliper. They sell kits for the front master cylinder in the calipers with the Pistons and seals for about 40 $45.. And make sure you change you're brake fluid every two years, also note which brake fluid to use. It's very important you do not combine different brake fluids. Sometimes it's as simple as just re bleeding the brakes. Just remember you're on two wheels, there's lots of information on the internet and YouTube but I would definitely recommend getting a OEM repair manual or a Haynes or Chilton manual for your model bike. Getting back to the front caliper to clean them take the brake pads out stick a small block of wood in there extend them out about 1/8 of an inch and use a toothbrush and brake cleaner and just scrub around the Pistons.. if that doesn't help you might have to go back to, earlier as I stated Either try rebleeding them, or just get a rebuild kit, take your time and enjoy working on your own bike.. Scott.
