Why you need this and not the suction cup mount

I think there are many advantages to this mount over the suction cup style. -Allows you to place your GPS where you can view it without taking your eyes too far off the road, especially important that you not have to look down to the console to view it. -Easy to hide when you park your car. Yes, you probably take your GPS out of the suction cup holder and hide it in the car. You think a would-be thief doesn't know exactly what you're doing when the empty suction cup mount is still on the windshield? -Doesn't leave a mark on the windshield. The thieves have figured that one out, too. I've had the suction cup mount for years. So glad I changed over to the "bean bag" style. For those who are wondering: -No problem with it slipping on the dash so far -Good quality construction -Heavier than you think it is (which is a good thing) -Your GPS won't fall off the windshield on a hot day like it inevitably does with the suction cup mount Price is reasonable, and this is the Garmin brand. Garmin stands behind its products and has good technical support. If you're on the fence about this, just go for it.

    works well for some cars

I like the sleek-ness of this product and the esthetics, it does what it's meant to do - hold the GPS, however it doesn't sit flush on the dash of my Rav 4, also tends to bounce where my sandbag one did not. If your dash is flat where you need to place the GPS I'm sure it would work fine, mine has a concave area and while it molds a little to that part, it's not quite enough :(

  • Excellent holder

I was looking for something to use rather than using the suction cup stuck to the windshield. I'm tired of looking at those circles. I did some research and asked a lot of questions. I finally decided I'd give this holder a test ride. My initial test run was 3 weeks in Ireland. It sat on the dash and stayed in placed all through the adventure and never moved a millimeter around the dash. What I found convenient was the lock mechanism that locks the ball holder in place, and it's very easy to unlock it from the holder. Oh, and the locking location has like a ratchet mechanism and you can rotate your GPS 360 degrees. This came in handy when trying to get a good angle for viewing the screen. I wish I had one of these years earlier. I highly recommend this holder and mounting system. And it's a official Garmin product.

  • Finally The Perfect GPS Mount

I had tried several different mounts (cup-holder, vent style) and this one is the best, why? If you have to move the GPS between vehicles there is no removing the back mount and GPS or unscrewing the tension wheel for the cup holder mount, just pick it up and transfer it from one vehicle to another. Flat surface dashboards are recommended. I have a Focus and it is on a slight angle, but works fine. Once it is placed on the dash, I've never had it move, shift, or vibrate from road bumps like the other mounts. Get it... and you won't be disappointed.

  • Finally! GPS convenience

With the Bean Bag Mount, I can place the GPS in the best location for easy and safe viewing without mounting it on the window. The mount fits neatly on the dash and is definitely solid. When I arrive at my destination, I can place the GPS and Bean Bag Mount out of sight and it is impossible to tell I have a GPS in the car. My first mount was a gift, and this one will be a gift for one of my daughters.

  • Best way to hold a GPS

I absolutely love using this instead of tryiing to stick a holder on the windshield. Even the cleanest windshield will eventually lose suction, even with moisture and a dash of soap added. This beanbag is so easy to use, I just put it on the dashboard and it never moves. If I want to hide it, very easy to pick up the whole thing and put on the floor out of sight.

  • This thing really works!

Got this gizmo to mount my Garmin GPS in rental cars. A friend had one so I had to try one. This heavy bean bag style dash mount is bulky in my luggage, but works really well. It even helps the passenger who doesn't want the GPS to see the sky very well (lol), just sit the whole thing on your leg, hunt 'n peck away, and repeat the directions to the driver. I love it when some doo-dad actually works like you imagine it should. This would be a good gift for someone with a hand-held GPS, for travel or on home turf.

  • Works well enough: Pluses outweigh Negatives

Aspects I appreciate: the low profile. the smaller footprint on the dash than a regular sandbag-type device, the decreased weight compared to a regular sandbag-type device (especially nice when seated in drivers' seat and want to place entire unit on passenger-side floorboard for security reasons), the quality construction evident in its heft and fitment of the GPS onto the mounting ball, the relative cost to performance ratio (you get what you pay for).... Aspects that could stand improvement: primarily the "stickiness" of the underside once the protective film is removed. Having used the regular sandbag-type device for many years, I find this dash mount device more easily prone to slide across/from the dash than other regular sandbag-type devices. Part of that is due to its decreased weight (which is also a contradictory statement) and partly due to its smaller footprint (also contradictory, I know). If this device was 10-15% stickier, it would easily rate 5 stars. Thanks for reading.......Velocitoro

  • GPS Dashboard Mount for Garmin NuviCam LMTHD

The Garmin NuviCam LMTHD is an excellent GPS and dash cam. The problem with this unit is that it's large and relatively heavy, making the included windshield suction cup mount nearly useless. The GPS just kept falling down and onto the floor of my car. That's why I invested in the GPS Dashboard Mount. That item allows the NuviCam to rest on the dash, rather than as attached to the windshield. Although the Dashboard Mount wss advertised as having a base that sticks to the dash, the GPS often slid off when driving. I was able to save the day by using Velcro to affix the Dashboard Mount to the dash. The GPS vibrated a bit, tapping against the windshield. I eliminated that annoyance by placing a small strip of Velcro along the top left corner of the GPS, so there no longer is a rattling noise. There are two disadvantages to using the Dashboard Mount: Since the GPS is now mounted lower onto the dash, when videos are recorded they include the top of my car's hood that intrudes about 10 percent into the picture, but that doesn't effect the operation of the GPS. The other problem is that it's not easy to remove the GPS from the Dashboard Mount in order to retrieve the micro SD card, or to stow away the unit so it can't be seen from the outside. As a result I leave the GPS in its mount almost all the time. The Dashboard Mount eliminated the biggest problem concerning the suction cup, but one may have to make some changes to the Dashboard Mount, as I did in order to achieve the desired results.

  • GPS stays put

I tried several different types of suction cup mounts and my GPS always fell . With this bean bag dash mount it has not slipped or slid off my dash even with it sitting at and angle on my plastic dash board. And it also low profile which does not interfere with my viability. Very pleased with this mount.
