Fixed my problem.
I bought a replacement motor that was a little too short in the leg. Despite all my efforts to address it I still had problems with cavitation. My last hope was to try the hydrofoil. It was easy to fit and works a treat! My little aluminium dinghy flies now. Very happy.

Works great, boat has never run better!
Works perfectly. However, if you are fitting to a 4 stroke 40/60 HP Mercury motor it will need modification to fit around the motor. The slot needs widening at the front to about halfway back and lengthening at the back so it will slide on all the way and clear the trim adjuster. After trying several methods to trim it out (very thick material and a slow job with a file) I ended up using the Dremel with a small drum sander attachment.

Only problem I encountered was the size of the nuts they were Imperial not Metric. Had trouble tightening the last 4 bolts.
