Moto G 3rd gen.
I needed a cheap unlocked gsm phone to take to Europe... the used moto G 3rd gen. Fit the bill. It will take a sim card from European countries and it has a good camera to boot! I haven't used it overseas yet so I can't rate that ability yet. I've used the wifi and put some apps on it and taken some pics and it's worked good so far.
