Two aging spinster sisters have their peaceable Cornwall existence disrupted in 1936 when they take a young Polish violinist into their care. After a particularly violent storm, Ursula and Janet Widington awake to find young man Andrea half-drowned and badly injured on the beach. They slowly discover that he is Polish with a gift for music as an accomplished violinist, hoping to find his way to America. But the village isn't used to visitors and everyone, with the exception of the sisters, is full of suspicions, especially when Andrea develops a friendship with a beautiful Russian woman vacationing nearby. LOVED IT WHEN IT WAS FIRST RELEASED ... STILL LOVE IT!
Saw this at the cinema when it first came out & it still stands as one of my favorite movies. Glad my order arrived just as we were heading off camping & as we had no TV reception in our motorhome it was wonderful to sit an enjoy this movie again. Visited friends on the Yorke Peninsula (South Australia) on our way home & I've lent this CD to them ... insisting it will need to return to me in the future for yet again more viewings ;)

Back to an Era of great acting and storyline....
I am very happy I have now added this DVD to my library as it's very good entertainment, great acting from main characters and newcomers too....story keeps you intrigued, smiling and as I mentioned entertained.
