    Does what it's supposed to

This little lens, the 10-18 mm STM zoom, does everything it's supposed to do and does it well. Still, I rarely use it. I don't do Real Estate photography, interiors and such, and at my age I rarely get to the alpine outlooks that feature sweeping vistas. In other words, I don't have a lot of use for this lens. With that in mind, it really does live up to the reviews which are excellent wherever you look. Images are sharp and clear. It really does get wide views, wider than my other lenses by a lot. It's easy to use and I've had no glitches with it at all. Still though, with my 60D and 70D, I use my 18-135 mm Nano and 70-300 mm Nano a lot. They're versatile, crisp, and no fuss or bother. It's more a function of what I shoot than anything else. The 10-18 is a great lens at a terrific price for someone that needs ultra wide capability. Even though I don't use mine much at all I'm considering keeping it. For special purposes it's great. It didn't cost much at all. It doesn't take up much space either. Who knows? I may find myself at the top of Mount Tam at sunset and need a wide angle. It always seems that right after I part company with something that I never use, the next week I need the darn thing. In the end, It does what it's supposed to do, is easy to use, seems well made, and is very reasonably priced. Do you actually have a need for an ultra wide lens? Darned if I know. If you get one and find out that you don't it does retain its value. Check it out. There's virtually no risk.

    Gets the job done

It’s not quite what I wanted, but for the value it’s a great buy. I wish Canon would make a 21mm prime lens. Oh well, I love this one. Great for indoor rooms and outdoor wide angle landscapes.

  • Excellent lens for the money. I'd buy it again if I needed to.

Plastic housing, but that means it doesn't weight much, which is a good thing when you're hauling around equipment, especially for older folks. My guess is this would be terrific for doing video. I bought it for a friend who wanted to shoot video. I tried it out for stills and found it very satisfying. I have lots of equipment, various brands, but I would not hesitate to buy this lens again for myself. The price and value are much better than paying 2-3X as much for a Fuji or Nikon lens of similar focal length or even the Canon 11-22 for the M series. I have one of those and it's quite sharp and has a metal body, but if I had it all to do over, I'd probably go this route.

  • Great and inexpensive wide lens.

Too early to tell 100% but so far I am very happy with this lens. It is WIDE and sharp. It has a lot of plastic which is ok as this lens is priced accordingly. The IS works great making up for the not so wide aperture. The Bokeh is not great in my opinion but I still need more time to play with it. It has some vignetting which is to be expected on a lens this wide. Lightroom has built in correction for this lens and it works great. It's awesome to be able to get so much into the frame. Sometimes it's almost too much, especially when I'm used to my other lenses which only went to 24mm. Tree branches, and other things that usually wouldn't be a problem with a normal lens on a crop camera all come into view with this bad boy. This lens is an incredible deal really. If I lost it I would buy another one. Quickndone has the best deal on the internet and I highly recommend buying from them.

  • Good build quality, works well, sharp images.

I bought this lens to be specifically used with a Canon T6s that has been modified for full spectrum use. (IR photography) It is sharp, focuses quietly with the STM design(good for video use) .so far no indication of IR hot spots in the center of the image. The only disappointment is the manual focus method. Good lens in general, though for a reasonable price.

  • Best wide lens for the money so far!

This camera has a super wide angle, and the motors are so silent I cant even hear it if I hold my ear to the lens while focusing. The lens stabilization is outstanding and works beautifully if using on a glidecam or steadicam rig. The lens build quality is pretty good but not the best, its just a tiny bit better quality than the kit lens that comes with most canon DSLR cameras but is still not weather sealed. Its not really a deal breaker but you do want to be mindful while mounting it on your camera to not force anything if something is not lining up right or dont take it to wet or rainy places. The picture quality is pretty dang good and is a lot better quality than I would have expected from a lens that sells under $400. overall for a budget wide angle lens, its one of the best I have seen so far.

  • Impressive WA Lens

This lens is quiet, light, and sharp. It's equivalent to approx 16-28mm in 35mm, which counts as very wide by old-school standards. The lens itself seems to contain little glass or metal; I believe some of the optical elements are hi-tech plastic. It's not fast at 4.5/5.6. The lens also is not constructed for manual focus; it has a ring that turns but the connection is not mechanical. It also comes without any case or hood, which is kind of small. (You'll need a thin 67 mm skylight too.) However, it is optically great - clear with little visible distortion way wide, and fast-enough given stabilization and adjustable ISO. That's all. I good wide-angle to have if you can live with modern construction.

  • Great little lens

I bought the new Canon 80D to complement video work with the 1DX. Being only 2.3 lbs it is easy in the arms with the Glidecam. Shooting Real Estate the 10mm gives me the equivalent of the 16mm lens for my stills. The auto focus and tap screen focus capabilities are exceptional. I cannot blur the backgrounds of my videos like I can with the f-2.8 lenses, but for real estate we aren’t trying for cutsie artistic shots anyway. Great little light weight lens.

  • Great value wide angle lens!

There is no distortion of lines and the angle is nice and wide. It's very lightweight and quiet enough focusing. I am glad I bought it used and saved $50. It came in nearly new condition without scratches or blemishes. Carefully packaged in bubble wrap and packing peanuts. Shipped quickly. Check out all of the reviews and pictures from this lens on amazon. Then come back to eBay to buy used glass and save some money. ;)

  • Everything I Expected

I have been waiting for a very long time to be able to afford an extreme wide angle lens and this fits the bill perfectly! The build quality is excellent and the image quality is, of course, excellent. Operation is extremely smooth and well above its class. The speed doesn't bother me as we are all using higher isos anyway. Modern aircraft are built with a lot of "plastic" so the construction of this lens does not bother me. I am very confident with average usage that it will hold up very well over the years. All of that aside, it's just plain fun to use!
