good buy
A digital set box plus recorder, good picture and good quality recordings. Format of recordings are such that you can transfer to many devices and watch. Manual however is poor, you will have to learn how to use the device by trail and error, especially when learning how to set a recording. For 38 dollars a good buy, make sure you turn of the automatic function on the clock otherwise you will have problems with the timing on your recordings. Just OK
Pros: Item is compact, cheap, easy to set up and does the job most of the time. It supports MPEG-4 HD broadcasts. It works fairly well in a fringe area of difficult reception. Cons: Remote is too small with button labels that are hard to read in less than ideal light. Layout of buttons and menu sequences make navigation to some tasks difficult. Had a problem with time setting - auto based on region did not work with time being one hour fast or slow depending on how it woke up. Setting GMT offset and daylight saving manually solved this. Date does not always increment correctly for daily or weekly recordings sometimes resulting in missed recordings. Has a problem when returning to broadcast viewing after watching a previously recorded program in that it will not show the previously selected channel until it has been manually tuned to another channel then back to the desired channel. Summary: If you only want to view broadcast or previously recorded programs or you're prepared to put up with the hassles and occasional missed recordings, this is a cheap unit that supports the new MPEG-4 broadcasts and a reasonable range of video formats. Can't recommend it for everyone especially if you want reliable recording when you are away..Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good value for money, weak EPG
The picture is clear, recording works well. The only bugbear for me is the EPG, which only displays one channel at a time, so to see what's on you have to run through all the channels. Many features but not practical
It has many good features but not practical as it is hard to follow the instructions. It does not pick up ABC channels that I can't watch channel two programs. Does what it says but low low quality
PRO's: * Plays and records digital TV. * Good value price even compared to budget competitors offerings as they often don't include Australian standard power plug or adapter. CON's * Interface is non user friendly and plain ugly. * Buttons on remote are made for a toddlers hands. (too small) * Quality on my unit was poor and hope it is not a typical sample as capacitors make a high pitched audible tone while device is powered on and when left on for more than 5 hrs the TV reception is garbled in weird way which I assume is due to decoder chip overheating issue. Surprised!!
To be honest I wasn't expecting a great deal for the price I paid, but have been pleasantly surprised. I am sick and tired of being the meat in the sandwich with tv programmes. Rubbish on most times, then 2 shows I would watch on at the same time. This why I bought this little item. You can either preprogram it or use a usb.
