Great sound, noise cancelling pretty good. Totally comfortable.

Unbelievably crisp sound. The features to control volume, changing tunes, preset equalizer settings (3), noise reduction levels, and more were all very easy to learn and do. the headset is light and very comfortable on your head and ears. The ON/OFF function should be standard on all headsets. The only complaint I have is the top volume level just doesn't get there for me, but then again, I am sure that I have already killed enough of my hearing anyway.

    Nice Try...!!!!!

Nice Try, but not nearly enough...!!!!! I watched hours of reviews on this product in comparison to it's competitors and I thought I made the right choice...... BUT, these headphones do not have the umfff that I thought.... Volume, sound cancelling, preset sound signatures..... THEY ALL FALL SHORT. I believe the seller corresponded with me in the manner he did just to make the sale. I did not immediately respond because I wanted to truly give it enough time to evaluate the product from beginning to end. I rate these headphones a C- or even a D....!!!!!!

  • A well-balanced noise-canceling headphones

Immediately, the first thing I noticed and therefore liked about the headphones was that my eardrums didn't feel that uncomfortable and painful over time pressure on my eardrums while using the noise canceling feature, unlike using the Bose QC series headphones which I think just has a bit too much of it. The Sennheiser PXC 550 is lightweight giving no issue to hours of use. The build and feel quality is luxurious and well-built. I like the plush ear cups and headband and the metal accents. One can tell Sennheiser had put some thougnt into making these cans. The audio quality is well-balanced in my opinion, although I am not audiophile by any means who knows what a well-balanced sound should sound like. I just know from my personal use and experience that there is a good mix of lows, mids and highs that one doesn't over power the others. Should I want to put a bit more bass perhaps, I can simply press the effects button on the right ear cup to activate Club sound, or Movie for a bit more bass. Should want the vocals to stand out, another press of the same button for Speech should do the trick. Or if I don't want any of that, I can simply turn it off. With Sennheiser's app, CapTune, I can even further customize my sound by adjusting the app's Equalizer. There are many presets available already but one can really fine tune the sound a bit more. Turning the headphones on and off is pretty easy by simply rotating the cups 90 degrees flat to turn off, and to normal listening position to turn on. The battery life, however, is a ridiculous twenty some hours if I am not mistaken. The remaining battery life is available using the app. The touch pad on the right ear cup works fantastically well to adjust the volume, skip or repeat tracks, scan forward or back songs, play or pause songs, take calls or mute calls, and even listen to your surrounding with the headphones on while the music is stopped. Sennheiser really executed this well. I will, however, say that the Smart Pause feature -- the feature that automatically pauses music when removing the headphones off or just lifting one of the earcups off an ear -- is a bit too sensitive. I experienced the music stop just with turning my head to look at something behind me, or removing my eyeglasses. The headphones sense some kind of movement, albeit minute, or a change in the pressure against the earcups or something that the music stops. I don't what exactly happens but the moment I turned off the Smart Pause feature I didn't have the problem of music stopping when I take off or put on my eyeglasses or turned my head. Overall, I am very impressed with the Sennheiser PXC 550. I think I have finally found the set of headphones I can see myself using a lot with regularity. I just have to figure out what to do with all the other headphones I have amassed over the years of searching for the one well-balanced noise-canceling headphones. Great job, Sennheiser!

  • It had some issues

Well, to be frank, the headphones made this awful popping and hiss noise with or without ANC and the elongated ear cup shape hugged my jaw in the wrong the way it asleep caused my ear lobes to dangle and hit the back of the headphones (ear lobes have tiny studs in them). Then, if one device went out of range it would start to rapidly disconnect and reconnect to my device and turn off the music of the device I was currently listening too and turn on iTunes. I don’t have any music on iTunes? The app that went along with the device is awful with the lack of in depth fiddling controls and the connectivity of the app is just as egregious as the headphones connectivity to anything else. The headphones don’t have off and on button but instead make use of turning the headphones in a certain direction. They were extremely easy to turn off and on just trying to adjust them to my head shape. The touch controls worked but they worked TOO much. Overly sensitive headphones made adjusting them a nightmare as moving them could accidentally trigger the touch sensor and blast music into your ears which could put Beethoven’s hearing loss to shame. The ear cups were to too tight as well. The there was an extreme loss of audio quality if you turned ANC off and no amount of eq fiddling would help. The GOOD stuff: The headphones sounded great with ANC turned on with tons of bass. The pass through feature allowed me to hear things I couldn’t even naturally hear with my own ears! The weight of headphones was good, top of my head was a-okay. And the roll up thing that it does along with having a case was neat too. Overall: I would’ve kept them if it weren’t for the ear cup shape and the clamping force which made it uncouth for exercise. I went back to my Sony wh-ch700’s because these reasons. Though I’m sure there are people who would love a elongated ear cup with a huge amount of clamping force, just not me.

  • Luxurious and great noise cancelling feature

Comfortable, sleek, and very quiet. Microphone is great. Sound quality is fantastic for a Bluetooth set, worth every penny. Only downside is that while the Touch control is very intuitive, it is not appropriate for running/jumping activities as the accelerometers can be fooled by sudden movement leading to unexpected pauses and starts.

  • For the price these are amazing

This a high end headphones with build quality to prove it. They are comfy to where and sound great. Its sound cancelling is not the best but will do the job for flights or loud areas. Pros: Clear sound Unique features ( pause and amplify sound around you ) Touch controls Quick connection bluetooth Lightweight Can be wired Cons: Odd way to turn on and off Not a bass centered headphone Companion app is nice but does not work with other app with audio like pandora and what not.

  • Comfortable w/good noise canceling feature

Headphones are comfortable but not as light weight as I expected. Good noise canceling feature. Easily paired to all my devices. Touch controls take some getting use to but manageable. I wear hearing aides but he headphones had great sound.

  • Good quality headphones

These headphones are good looking and pleasant to wear for longer periods of time. Sound quality is very good. Bluetooth pairing was easy with the tablets and Mac laptop I have. The battery life is good but not outstanding. The only complaint I would have is the noise cancellation feature not being complete. It cuts the outside noises to about half. It could be because of safety requirements imposed on headphone manufacturers not to completely block outside sound to avoid accidents. Otherwise these are great headphones.

  • Can you speak up

I have had these for a second now and I love them. Sennheiser is known for its mics but these are awesome phones. The touch feature is sick. Had to sit directly at the airport check in or I would have missed the flight. Great price for these incredible headphones.
