    Timex T2N721

Nice solid watch, mechanical compass accuracy good when calibrated, checked this against more traditional compass, the bezel is friction type and is prone to move. Tide feature work OK Temp is good when watch is not on your wrist obviously. Strap is thick and for me is comfortable to wear, l am very pleased with this purchase.

    Huge Promises (mostly) Delivered!

Okay I don't want to give the impression that I'm disappointed by this timepiece, because I'm not. So let me just get the negatives out of the way.... First, the date window. Are you absolutely kidding me? At the 6 o'clock position there is a pin-sized circular (I think?) window bearing the date (I think?). If you can see the date written on the period at the end of this sentence, well then you can read the date in the date window on this watch! Ahem. It's not like there isn't room, they chose to print the "Quartz" label there - let's see...do I need the date there in a larger circle to refer to daily or even more often, OR, do I need a "Quartz" label there that, really I didn't care about in the 1st place? After all, "Quartz" is written on the back cover. Why not put it at 12 o'clock under "Timex" or...ANYWHERE else? That way you could make the date window at least visible. The watch is difficult to remember how to use, but to be fair it's loaded with features. My suggestion would be labeling the pushers - there are several unique ways and places of labeling pushers including engraving on the case, face or side of the case. Really, that's all I have for complaints! I had the model previous to this one, and Timex gets huge props for the improvements! They include: * Improving/enlarging the indiglo coverage. On the older model, only the very center circle was lit when the Indiglo pusher was depressed. It was painfully ineffective in that it was too hard to see the time with just that small center bit illuminated. *Added color to pusher posts. I dunno why, but it's a nice touch. That's really it for the improvements from the older model, so now I'll just talk about the watch in general. This will be my daily wearing timepiece, I love it. I use the compass which, after simple calibration, is balls-on accurate! As is the tide and temperature - which surprised me with its accuracy, actually. The face is huge and easy to see & read, the hands are huge and the glow-in-the-dark on them is generally pretty good. The pushers, which as i said are colored now, are large and easy to actuate, and once depressed the response is immediate and accurate. The band(s) are of the appropriate size and are comfortable. I like the bezel; it has big black insets at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 positions, and the fact that the bezel rotates smoothly. The face in general is large, but not any larger than is the style these days. The Indiglo is bright, and illuminates the entire face now which serves two purposes! Can you name them both? Of course it makes reading the time possible but I've ALWAYS used a watch's light (be it Indiglo, or the old bulb-type) for emergency navigation in the dark. It has to be a dark room but it does help me find my way around a bed or find the lightswitch etc), but this light is very, very bright and usable. I spoke about the accuracy of the functions (tide, temp, compass), and this watch delivers those accurate features in easy-to-see fashion. As a nice touch, the indicator hand returns to a neutral position. The fearure arm (as I call it) is delicate looking which, surprisingly, is a nice contrast to the utilitarian looking hour, minute and seconds hand. This is a watch with 5 hands, yet Timex pulls it off by contrasting them using shape and color. Timex in name has always been incredibly reliable to me. My philosophy has always been buy a timex, wear it til the battery dies, throw it away, buy another Timex. Good plan but I always saw another cool looking watch BEFORE the battery died so I reformulated my plan: Buy a Timex, wear it a couple years, see another cool Timex & buy it, give the old one to my dad, who wears it another couple years til I give him a new one and he donates the old one to Salvation Army. (not Goodwill, which is NOT a non-profit). Insofar as size, I grabbed my calipers and measured it up. The actual face (the glass) measures 35mm. The case size is 45mm, and pusher to pusher I get 52mm. Thickness off the wrist is 13.5mm. In closing, yup, I recommend it. Yeah, I hate the less-than-usable date window - I'll just have to remember that date to use this superb watch. It's a fair trade. I gotta tell ya, they really made a large watch comfortable here. If/when they enlarge the date window, (which, did I mention is way too small?) I'd buy it again in a heartbeat! In fact..is that why they haven't done that yet? They know we'd all buy another one? If so it'll work - at least for me it will.

  • Outstanding

I love this watch, unusual, quirky how many watches not only tell the time and date, but temperature, and tide times and you will never get lost again with a compass as well all in a traditional nicely styled case

I had to go online to find detailed operating information. The strap is quite stiff but loosens up with continuous wear.
