    So smooth

I am coming off of a quiver full of Canon 5Dmkiii, but also work with both Leica and Phase alone gear at my studio. While I got the 5DS for the high pixel count, I just fell in love with this model for the enhanced shutter and mirror box assembly in this. The 5DS is noticeably smoother and quieter than the 5Dmkiii and compared favorably to a Leica M-240 or M9. The sensor yield creamy, beautiful skin towns and really, really superior images. Wile the main studio Camera will remain my Phase One XF, the 5DS is the go to for wedding and location work for its smooth easy handlings, light weight, and excellent lens availability.

    Error 70 with many issues

I bought that camera and I replaced SDHC Memory Card with different one to start taking new pictures, the the camera collapsed by giving error 70 when I push any button. I called Canon to fix the issue but they asked of sending the camera back since there is some technical issue. I believe this camera has some manufacturing problem.

  • A great product - Canon 5Ds

This camera provides excellent quality photos. While the camera operation is like the Canon 5D Mark III with a few subtle changes. Image quality is terrific at 50.3 mp (144 mb file size). I shoot original art for a living and I tried medium format cameras before deciding to go with the 5Ds SLR. For what I do, I can't tell the difference between the SLR images and the MF images. The 5Ds images have incredible detail. I also use a 5D Mark III and a BetterLight Super 6k digital scanning back on a Cambo 4x5 LF camera. I prefer the images from the 5Ds. For those of you shooting in low light situations, this is not a low light camera since it has a maximum recommended ISO of 6400, but the noise levels are low even at 6400. Good glass and fast large cards are also required with this camera.

  • Amazing professional imaging value for less than one third the original MSRP!

Images from the 5Ds offer amazing quality, and not just because of the marquee feature, the 50+ MP of detail. There's also beautiful, harmonious color and tone straight out of camera that's flexible and easy to edit if you so choose. People in photographs look fantastic! Autofocus processing is quick, flexible, *very* accurate, and easy to tailor for one's anticipated subject or shooting circumstance. Tracking feels both smart and appropriately "sticky" on chosen subjects. The camera body itself is built to the highest professional standards one can buy--mag alloy build, high weather resistance, with the smoothest, most balanced mirror-shutter I've ever experienced in a DSLR. As of this writing, May 2020, Canon wants nearly $3800 for them, new. And the 5Ds feels, absolutely, like a $3800 machine. But on sale here--on ebay--for $1120? STUNNING value. If you're interested, yikes: run, don't walk. Get one while you can!

  • Very familiar package, but some nice surprises.

The 5DS is an amazing camera. All the features I'm already used to from the the 5D family, a familiar form factor and very little to have to "relearn" (although reading the manual DOES help - because folks may not use all the features a camera has because they don't know it has them). The thing I like the most is the sheer image quality. The thing is a beast!

  • Awesome Camera!!

I've been using Canon DSLR cameras since the EOS 10D hit the market. They just keep getting better and better! For the price, the photo quality and features are outstanding. The auto-focus selection is more than adequate and the tracking on moving subjects is terrific! The menu is fairly complex so I would recommend going through it while at the computer using the manual on disc for reference and clarification. There are a couple of minor things I'm disappointed with; there is no printed quick reference guide or manual, only the disk and there is no eyepiece extender available. I use my left eye for the viewfinder and am constantly wiping nose prints off the screen. All in all; I'm excited to own and use this camera and look forward to years of photography with it!

  • I highly recommend this camera when you really need to have high resolution.

Lives up to all the expectations of 50.6 high resolution image forming. With better and faster lenses, this camera really comes alive. It does require lots of light to really do the job. It follows the layout and basic Canon settings arrangements that T\the Canon EOS line is so famous for. I use this in conjunction with a Canon 5D4, M6II and the Canon lenses o satisfy nearly all my photographic needs.

  • Simply Amazing!

Absolutely amazing picture quality. I read and watched a lot of reviews that say it is not good in low light. Well that is simply wrong. Yes, there is a bit of noise like all cameras at high ISO. However, with a good lens the picture quality is superb. It reminds me how I felt with the Mark II years ago. Love it, love it, love it. The "Spirit of St. Louis" was taken at ISO 400 but was too dark. I used dpp to raise it to the equivalent ISO 3200 in the attached image. A bit of noise but rather crisp. The Cat is as shot. And the Moon is a 100% crop shot without a tripod. I chose the 5Ds because the 5Dsr cancels the filter and does not remove it. I am not disappointed.

  • I would not buy anything else

I have been shooting with this Camera for about a year. Hands down, the 50.6 mp are amazing. The only thing is that if you are shooting long exposure bracketing there could be extended buffer time. It will also happen shooting high speed continuous but I guess these issues are expected. Quality of build is excellent and with a quality lens it doesn’t get any better.

  • Quality of photos worth the limitations.

The camera does not perform as well in low light as my other cameras, but I am still getting use to the settings. Also, I miss the added range of a crop sensor with my lenses, but practice will fix this issue. HOWEVER, for detail of photos nothings can compare.
