As always, great value from Yamaha
Nicely made with good neck feel and playability. Guitar came nicely set up and almost in perfect tune. Kudos to the retail shop. Rosewood back and sides are gorgeous. (I didn't think you could even buy rosewood anymore?) Binding on headstock and neck seems a bit out of place on a guitar of this price range but for those that appreciate this sort of bling, it is at least well done. Tone is a bit muted as it doesn't really sparkle or throw out deep rich bass, but as before it sounds good enough for a guitar in this price range. I haven't tried new strings but I expect the tone issue can be improved significantly with the right set. Best feature I believe is the action which is way better than anyone would expect for an instrument under $300. Bottom line is you get an outstanding acoustic that plays nice, sounds decent, and holds its value due to the outstanding reputation Yamaha has built over the years.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

cheap guitars
I guess the FG is ok I keep a couple of cheap guitars around to bang on. There are some people that don't have any respect for a really good high dollar guitar and you can't just hand them one. When I'm jamming with others I play the cheaper guitars LIKE THE 830, They are not a really bad guitar but I thought it would have a deeper sound with the laminated or layered rosewood back the sound is a little to bright. Incredible Sound
Don't let the affordable price tag fool you into thinking this guitar is just your average beginner guitar. This guitar has sound quality that can hold it's own against other guitars more than twice the price. Out of the box, I took it in to get it professionally setup. They told me that there really wasn't anything that needed to be done. It was already "good to go". This guitar will not disappoint. Pretty ....plays good and looks even better
This guitar looks, plays, and sound amazing. I kept two lower level acoustics and decided to upgrade and WoW what a difference it made. Actually, very impressed with this guitar. Was not expecting the finish to look so good, (thought top was satin, but it is glossy). I was not expecting Mother of Pearl Yamaha logo on the headstock either. The abalone around the sound hole is beautiful as well. I said that I wasn't going to buy anymore guitars made in China but could not pass up this deal. Under $300.00, I guess I don't care. I purchased this to mainly be able to strum out some acoustic tones here and there, and to strengthen my fingers for when I play electric. This fits the bill just fine for that.
