Good CPU, but Wraith Cooler is for the birds

The processor arrived quickly, but the Wraith Prism Cooler fan was DOA, and no amount of TLC got it work again. Fortunately, I had another cooler to use with this processor. These coolers are less than wonderful, anyway, and always require a struggle to get the clips to align for proper lockdown. In fact, I've ordered another brand of RGB cooler to replace all of my Wraith Prime Coolers with some easier to install and easier to remove, should that become necessary.

Good Processor Just had to fight a few bent CPU PINS.

I was happy to receive the chip and cooler in a timely manner. The chip and cooler were packaged very safely. After pulling the CPU out of the packaging there were a few bent pins but I was able to straighten them with my 3d Printer head cleaner tweezers. After straightening them chip works perfectly I am happy just wish the previous owner was forthcoming about bent pins or at least a little more careful with the chip when they removed it.

  • Nice processor with cumbersome stock cooler

Bought this about a month ago for a new PC build. Decided to use the stock cooler until I get into more complex overclocking. It's working really well so far. Getting the cooler installed and set up was a bit tricky, but this is my first build ever, so take that with a grain of salt. Overall, a very positive experience. The star drop is purely for the cooler. Pros: - Processor is fast, handles lots of different programs open at the same with little effort - Processor is easy to install - Cooler looks great and has customizable LEDs - Processor overclocks itself up to 4.1 GHz out of the box Cons: - The fastening mechanism for the cooler was a pain in the butt to fiddle around with, and I'm pretty sure the tension arm on mine is on the wrong side or that the face plate is upside down. - The fan on the cooler is the noisiest one in my case (other fans are bequiet! Silent Wings 3 140mm and Phanteks PWM 140mm). It's not crazy loud, but considering the other fans are silent, this one is noticeable when it gets up to speed, which is often because the processor tends to run hot. - The LEDs on the cooler require separate software made by Cooler Master in order to customize them or sync them up with case/fan lights. TL;DR: Great processor; pretty and usable but not amazing stock cooler.

  • Excellent CPU

This is a huge step up for AMD in the line of CPUs. I really like how my applications launch faster and run smoother than before. Coming from an FX-9590, the difference in performance is absolutely mind-blowing. I cannot stress out the efficiency and silence this CPU runs at. Even the included cooler looks... cool! I am glad I went AMD and not Intel because for the price I paid for this CPU, I saved up and got a larger hard drive for my new PC.

  • 2700x is a CHIP that true aliens use

the best cpu I ever owned, I paired this 2700x with a b450 asrock hdv 4.0 micro atx model, and it runs just fine on all stock clocks with 3000mhz XPG gammix ram locked at 2133, I turned off all auto OC settings and locked my frames to 60fps with a 5500xt, CPU does not raise above 59c on gaming and it records 2k gaming at 60fps thanks AMD best chip

  • Great at what I got it for

Wanted a cheap system to encode H265 on the CPU versus using a GPU or QuickSync since the quality using the CPU for encoding is the best from my limited testing so far. Since this processor has been out a few years there are quite a few used ones for sale so prices are fairly reasonable, motherboards are also fairly plentiful new or used giving a good range of choices from basic to full featured. Since it has been a few years since I last updated my systems I built 6 new ones ranging from Ryzen 7 2700x/B450, Ryzen 7/X470, Ryzen 5 3600X/B450, i5-9600K/Z370, i7-9700K/Z390 and i5-10600K/Z490 to see which was the best at encoding based on time and it was an interesting process with all 6 falling within a few minutes of each other encoding the same video. The Ryzen 7 2700X is middle of the pact but due to its lower overall cost makes a decent system for encoding video IMO.

  • Ryzen 7 2700x

This Ryzen processor is a great deal for anyone looking for a great quality fast CPU, the Wraith Prism is quite a good stock cooler & will work perfectly to keep your processor cool. There’s always room for upgrades down the line. 8 core 16 thread so it can handle all sorts of different tasks from gaming to editing, even streaming. If you know how to build PC’s then it’s a simple install! It runs great for all my needs & I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great Ryzen processor. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first build or you’re a seasoned PC vet. It’s very versatile & when paired with the right components there’s plenty of ways to optimize a build to fit your needs! For the price I couldn’t pass it up as being my #1 choice of bang for your buck. All of the RBG on the cooler is controllable with an AMD app through Cooler Master. It’s not loud, even under load. My case has 3 intake fans & 1 rear exhaust, there’s the Wraith fan as well as 2 fans on my Gpu & 1 in the power supply.. even with all of that running my PC as a whole is not very loud by any means. There’s no reason this Ryzen 7 shouldn’t last me many years or until I want to upgrade! I’ve had no troubles & the performance has been great between gaming as well as running DAW/Digital Audio Workstation software for music production. I have no complaints on my end it gets the job done wonderfully! Thanks to AMD for making these quality products, can’t wait to see what they will have in the works for the future.

  • Temps?

Maybe its the msi x370 sli plus board but with a 360mm s36 radiator it gets to 50c at stock. 73c with cinebench runs. Even at 1.26 low voltage 4.1ghz it stays the same as stock temps. My mb bios shows 33c at stock idle but ryzen master and hwinfo show rapid spikes at stock up to 50c and above. Not sure if the temp readings are correct but my 1700 at 4.0ghz 1.365 volts didnt get anywhere near this 2700x temperature. Maybe its best to pair this with an x470 chipset instead of x370. The 1700 is the processor to get. I wish I wouldn't of purchased this 2700x over my 1700. The temps are wayyyy to high for my liking. Get a 1700 for 180$ brand new and just set the clock speed to 3700 on you motherboard bios and there isn't anything else you have to do. The stock cooler will work fine with it and you'll get great performance out of the box! 1648 Cinebench score @ 3.7ghz and 157 single core. Overclocked to 4.0ghz will give 1768 Cinebench and 164 in single core benchmarks.

  • Ryzen AF

2700X came sooner than estimated and works great. Packing was not great, however, so the actual CPU box had some damage. There was no damage to the actual CPU or the included cooler, so I gave that a pass. All in all, for 200$, I think it's a pretty good steal.(That's what I got it at.)
