Good value, best option in this price range

It's quite simple and at least the images are very high resolution. I can see it's doing a lot of auto exposure, grain reduction, and color modulation, but I can live with it. I do think, since they've built in substantial software, you should be able to turn off all the auto stuff. I would really prefer to not have the smeary look that grain reduction gives the images.

Kodak SCANZA works pretty much as expected

This photo scanner does a pretty good job for the money. The images are not quite as sharp as the originals but it is quick and easy to use. For many items, it is sufficient. Do not expect professional quality scans.

  • Great Value

My Scanza was easy to set up and even easier to use. I figured that I would have to work with it an hour or two to be able to use it. The instructions were easy to follow, and I was scanning 35 year old negatives within 20 minutes. The sharpness and definition were outstanding! This product does everything it promises to do and then some. I was able to scan each image in three seconds or less. For the cost, it's a great value. For anyone wanting to preserve old memories in the form of negatives, this is the best product available for the price.

  • Good for DIY scanning

Easy to operate. Good for DIY scanning, but don't expect high resolution professional images. Only thing I didn't like was that images require cropping to get a perfect rectangular result. I had no problem using the trays to feed slides quickly through the scanner.

  • Worth the investment !

The fine tuning adjustments are marginal, and work, but if you have a bunch of slides to copy, this is definitely worth the investment ! It saves the image to an sd card (sold separately or one you have available), and then pop it into your computer, to make adjustments, i.e., croping, color corrections, etc. I have an expensive slide copier for my full frame dslr, and this method is quicker, and it's a table top device. The preview screen is more than adequate, and very clear. I recommend this to anyone who has a ton of photos to "digitize" ! Good one, Kodak !

  • Does exactly what you need it to do

Obviously with a small machine like this it is not going to be as good as scanning your images via a flatbed scanner, however this little machine does it exactly what you needed it to do - scan slides and negatives easily and without fuss. Pic quality fairly decent - good enough to put onto the web/phone but definitely not good enough to be blown up to an A4 size or bigger. As some other review has pointed out, the way to slide the adapter in and out does cause some issues (ie photo not always straight, on an angle, not able to take all of the slide image in) but after a bit of fiddling I was able to overcome most of these issues. It is certainly a lot faster than taking the slides out, opening the adapter, putting a new slide in, closing it and then sliding it back in each time, hence the issues can arise. Overall very happy with my purchase and I was able to scan around 200 slides in an hour without fuss.

  • The awesome KodakScanza

This product is absolutely unbelievable I have negative black and white that are over 50 years old the chances of me making prints off them with zero. So I purchased this little device it's amazing to see images come up. I recommend this Kodak Scanza to anyone who wants prints from old negatives. It's definitely worth the money spent. Thank you Kodak!!!!!!

  • Very pleased with results for the cost

I'm very pleased with the results of the scans for what this unit cost. The quality of the captured/scanned image is better than what displays on screen in the preview. Most scans are in the 4-5 megabyte size range, and they can easily be edited in standard photo software. I've only tried 35mm slides so far; no idea how negatives or smaller formats perform. Holder is flimsy, awkward to open, but is accurate (and holding up after a few hundred slides). Did discover that portrait oriented shots do better scanned in landscape; otherwise you lose part of the image. Again, software can rotate the scan to correct orientation.

  • Pleased with my purchase.

Item does what I purchased it for. Have yet to get it recognized by computer via HDMI cable interface. The Gallery feature stores scanned images to memory card, however it will not read other jpeg images from a card written onto it from another device. Still working with it to see if drivers are needed to enable interfacing with a laptop or desktop computer.

  • Nice unit for the money

Setup was quick and easy. Instructions are clear and easy to follow. Images are good. I like the fact that I can scan all day without a computer. Just take the sd card out and put it in the co.puter when finished.
