  • A great buy and value

This is my first base antenna so I can't compare it to others. I am taking the Technicians test in 4 days so I can't test transmission yet. With a Boefang UV5R I am listening to repeaters that are at least 30 miles away with very clear no noise reception. Connecting the radio to a battery powered computer speaker works better. The antenna is very well made and was at a bargain price compared to the other 2 brands at higher prices. I wrapped the 2 piece joint with plumbers rescue tape. My feed line is 30 feet of heavy duty RG8 with PL259 connectors. I don't have an SWR meter yet. The base of the antenna is 8ft off the ground and elevation here is 2,300 ft. I will give an update if I can when I get a license for transmission quality. So far I highly recommend this antenna.

  • Excellent antenna and easy to assemble/install

I purchased this product to use with a dual band vhf/uhf radio, and mounted it on a mast on my roof. Works just great and my radio buddies claim my signal is much better. I can also hit repeaters previously too far away for contact. Easy assembly, no tuning required.

  • Great value

I a new HAM operator and this is my first antenna so I don't have a basis for comparison, but I am 100% satisfied. It's solidly built, and in the Chattanooga area I have hit 30 repeaters so far, some up to 40 miles out with good reports. It's mounted 30 feet up on an EZ-31 eave mount and fed with about 40 feet of LMR-400. I have read some reviews complaining about water intrusion, so I sealed every seam with mastic tape, though I really think it wasn't necessary. The center break is sealed with a silicone compression gasket and has a solid fit. Other seams are filled with what looks like epoxy. So yeah, I like it.

  • 8Ft Tram

The two section when joined are a bit of a slop fit , just wrap some electrical tape around the base of the top section where it slides in to remove the slop . SWR is excellent , A very good antenna for the money . If your SWR is high , check your coax connectors and or you may have made mistake in assembly .

  • I easily and reliably reach repeaters up to 75 miles away

I had one of these up on the tower for 15 years and it has held up and worked great all these years. A couple weeks ago a tree fell on the base of the tower and knocked it down so I bought this new Tram antenna that day. I have it installed now and it works better (being new I guess) than the old one. That is I easily reach repeaters up to 75 miles away on 50 watts, and have consistent reliable QSO's with closer repeaters / stations on much less power.

  • Goes the Distance for Ham Radio

This unit was easy to assemble. It does not have a lot of weight, although it is very durable. I am able to access repeaters that were not accessible before, including 440's. Several are more than 70 miles away on flat land. It replaced an older ground plane. I am quite pleased!

  • Works Great!

Awesome price, for a quality product. Instantly brought me in contact with all local repeaters and then some, as far away, as 50 miles! A great dual band starter antenna for newbies, in this really cool "HAM" hobby! I recommend it! :)

  • Tram 1480 review by ham first licensed in 1960

Swr is not the best on 450 but probably within specs. Two meter swr is good for the top end of the band. Antenna is easy to assemble and only had one part left over a allen wrench that I did not figure out what it was for. One sheet instruction came with it. Ebay is by far the best deal on a Tram vertical. Go for it!

  • Inexpensive dual band VHF UHF antenna

Dual band 2M/70 CM vertical. Average to good performance compared to more expensive variants. Time will tell.

  • Great antenna for the price

This antenna works great for the price. It is also very good construction and resist strong winds. I have purchased two of these and my first one was left installed over my hose (east coast of PR) during Hurricane Maria and resisted winds over 130 mph. Very recommended.
