Sarah Morton (Charlotte Rampling), a rigid and conservative yet successful English mystery writer is fresh out of inspiration. At the prodding of Sarah's publisher John Bosload (Charles Dance), she takes up residency in his secluded country house in the south of France. It is the off-season, and Sarah finds that the beautiful country locale is just the tonic for her - until late one night, when John's free-spirited daughter Julie (Ludivine Sagnier) unexpectedly arrives. Sarah's prim and steely English reserve is jarred by Julie's reckless, sexually charged lifestyle. Their interaction sets off an increasingly unsettling series of events, which not only changes Sarah's creative process but her life as well. Swimming Pool is an erotic flavoured mystery by Francois Ozon, one of Europe's most daring and inventive writer/directors. Ozon reunites with his two favourite leading ladies, Charlotte Rampling (Under the Sand) and Ludivine Sagnier (8 Femmes & Peter Pan) to make his first English language film.

    Suspenseful Drama

    This drama is very engaging and draws you in from the start with the main character (Charlotte Rampling) wanting to go somewhere quiet and secluded to write her next novel. Great plot and characterisations, and of course the beautiful countryside in the south of France, all add to this suspenseful drama.
