Very good alternative to the 75mm-300mm II.

I have been using a 75mm-300mm Canon lens for my sports shots with my Canon EOS 50D. The Canon 50D has the APC-S sensor while the older lens is really for cameras that are full-frame. In any case, this EF-S 55-250mm Lens is a very good alternative for me. It is sharp, it focuses very quickly. With the lower end being more wide I can zoom out and better. Also this lens has image stabilization, which the older lens does not. So far all my shots have been very good. I have also put the camera on a tripod and taken low light shots with it using a remote with very good results. There is a new version of this lens which has the STM motor in it, but since I do not shoot video I don't need that. This is a good lens.

    It works with my R7

I bought this lens to use on my Canon R7 with an adapter. This lens works, but it is noisy and slow to focus. I often have to focus manually when the auto focus fails. I hope Canon releases an RF-S version of this lens soon.

  • GOOD PRODUCT

This is an exact duplicate of one I dropped and broke recently. It works exactly the same and has the same features and I am happy with it.

  • Excellent!!!

The price was perfect and the lens is great. Reviews and everything have proven its a bang for the buck. Tho an older lens its perfect for manual focus and range shots with great depth of field.

  • GREAT LENS - Canon EF-S 55-250mm F/4-5.6 IS II Lens

I'm really enjoying this lens. I'm getting nothing be great shots with it and it has improved photos exponentially. I use it on my Canon EOS M3 which is a mirrorless camera. I bought a cheap conversion mount that allows me to use the EF Lens on a EF-M body. This is my 3rd vintage canon lens and I've saved hundreds of dollars by buying older gear without sacrificing quality.

  • Good value for beginners

Sharp enough for its price point. If you are a beginner that wants to learn if telephotography is right for you, this is a good starting point. I use this lens to take pictures of skittish animals such as wild birds that won't let me get close enough to use my sharper lenses with limited zoom or prime lenses with no zoom. While you won't get as good of a result as a Canon EF 100-400mm L lens, that lens is at a much higher price point which isn't recommended for beginners. I'm happy with my purchase and intend to get lots of enjoyment from this before advancing to the advanced/professional telephoto lenses in the future. Sometimes you will get better images taking zoomed in pictures of an animal using an OK zoom lens than you will cropping in from a distance with a sharp non-zoom lens. Knowing when to use each tool at your disposal is part of learning photography!

  • Not the best lens, but gives good stabilization

This lens fits any APS-C camera, and does an OK job. The images it produces aren't the best, so this isn't a professional lens. However, if you can get one at a good price, it provides stabilization to your picture taking, and can help out with getting the shots you want.

  • Met my expectations

I just bought a new Canon body to shoot sports inside. Needed a good lens to capture close and far pictures on the court. This is perfect. The lens appears to be new, as described, was well packaged and arrived quickly. Same lens as on Canon website for a much better price.
