Slingbox M1
Haven't a slingbox is great. I'm really surprised how much I use it. This product works great but was a pain to get it setup using my cable equipment. The M1 doesn't have a cable in or cable out. My cable box does not have component video or hdmi so I needed to add an additional step of going through the vcr. Also, there is a bug with the basic Xfinity cable box where the remote control wouldn't work. I had to download a patch from an help forum and now things work well.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

USED BOXES DO NOT FUNCTION
Used models do not function when purchased. My old one stopped working and when I bought an open box model which was apparently used it didn't work because it was registered to the user and the registration cannot be changed or deleted. This information was from Slingbox directly. It is sad that Slingboxes will all cease to work as of November 2022 and I cannot find anything comparable. Still not sure on this
Easy to set up. Jury still out on using a slingplayer through Amazon Fire. Difficulty logging in. After I finally logged in, it kept wanting to drop the playback quality. That doesn't necessarily mean there is anything wrong with the sling box or player. It could be my network. I will test more and follow up this review.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Works well on Laptop--"no so much" on Android phone
The product works well with a Laptop. The interface for an Android phone is terrible. I have mine hooked up to a DVR. The image of the "DVR remote" comes up on the Laptop and works. The "image of the DVR remote" on the Android phone is completely different. Will not allow me to go from the DVR to Live TV and back. The buttons are not on the "image of the DVR remote". We Travel a lot!
We winter 750 miles south of "home". Watching our local NBA team and NCAA conference games is high on our list. The sling box lets us see all of our home TV sports plus local news and weather. Local broadcast plus the sling box gives us exactly, what would other wise be very difficult or expensive at the very least. This thing is fantastic. I have Time Warner Cable & now i can take my cable & paid television channels with me wherever i have internet access. Sets up in minutes, works perfectly on my mac, ipad, iphone and Roku. There is a free player for iphone & ipad but like youtube, you will get some ads before the programming begins.. Easy to Use and HD Video
This is my third Slingbox, have two active now at home, one in livingroom and one in bedroom. My wife and I both have iPads, we travel overseas about 3 months a year and it is great to be able to watch any of the hundreds of channels on cable tv. Found a novel use at home, in bedroom my wife sometimes watches tv and if I want to watch another program, I just use my iPad with earphones connected to my living room Slingbox/cable box.
