SynopsisThe role of leader came naturally to George Washington, the first president of the United States, and the man revered as the father of his country. But when it came to the social aspects of life in the mid 18th century, he was both awkward and insecure, and finally it was only through the love of a woman that he found happiness.
This is a wonderful book. I had one years ago and loaned it to a friend but never got it back so I wanted to read it again. A little book filled with history charmed with the writers talent. A much different story from this author than usual!
Read this before and loved it but gave my copy to a friend. Couldn’t wait to go visit Mount Vernon after reading it! My daughter moved to the DC area so want a copy for her, and hopefully a second visit to Mount Vernon!
This copy looks like new!
I found the book a very good look at the beginning of out country. It was a very personal view of George Washington and his family. Yes, I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in our early history.
