The Australia standard 35 watts heat belt will gentle warmth without creating a hot spot. Heating belts are preferable to heating pads for the reasons that they can simply be moved up or down the fermenter to increase or decrease the heat transfer to the brew. Heating belts are also preferable to heating pads because pads tend to heat up the yeast bed on the bottom of the fermenter which can produce some undesirable flavours in your beer. And you can get a bonus digital stick on thermometer. Please be advised that the heating belt is only 35 watt power and it will normally warm the fermeter in the cold weather and keep the wort in a desirable temperature.

Stabilises temertures nicely.
The flat heating element part of the belt is of a soft, clingy plastic that is easy to place and adjust. It's long enough to go across two 20 litre tubs next to each other (but not around both tubs) and keep them above 30 degrees. Home Brew FV heat belt
Works a treat! Better than a bottom pad which would likely cause yeast autolysis, and uses very little electricity compared to an oil column heater that I used last autumn/winter/early spring. I wrap my FV and belt with thin foil insulation and secure it with a bungy cord in my ensuite bathroom.

Needs a thermostat
