My 2nd Deeper Sonar
I had the Deeper Pro on another kayak that i sold. It was a fantastic sonar option since you didnt need a battery or to mount a transducer. Worked great on several nearshore trips in the gulf of mexico. The pro + has gps BUT you cant use it to navigate to your waypoints. So you have to use another gps app to get to your fishing spots, then switch to the Deeper app. For sonar/fish finding. The folks at Deeper agreed that that would be a helpful addition to their app. So thats why it only got 4 stars - for having a gps that you cant use for navigation. Otherwise, i love the product.

Not real great for ice fishing
I have only had the opportunity to use this for ice fishing so far. It connected to my tablet just fine but it would cut in and out every 20-30 seconds, which made it annoying to try and look at. I shut the wireless off on all other devices in the fish house and that didn't make any difference. It did work fine when connected to my android phone so I used that instead and it seemed to work good....until my wife turned on her vexlar. The deeper picked up so much interference you could not tell what was your lure or bottom or a fish. We then tried a second model of vexlar and it did the same thing. Determined to figure this thing out we shut off the vexlars to avoid the interference and even then it was hard to see my lure at 60 feet let alone any fish activity that deep. Disgusted with the performance I took it out of the water and went back to my old vexlar FL8 which picked up my lure just fine at 60 feet. I think if you were to ice fish alone in 10-20 feet of water it would probably perform good. I am holding out for open water to use the mapping feature before I completely write it off. Overall it OK
Overall ice fishing it seams to work ok in shallow water, have not used it in the summer to chart a lake. It doesn't work good with other sonars in a close proximity, it freezes up and goes to deeper depth range. Wish the battery life lasted longer, it seam to be only good for around 5 / 5-1/2 hours. I never ran it down lower than 1 percent battery life. Not sure if they can change the battery init if it goes bad. Amazing product at the lowest possible price. Does the job of WAY more expensive units and then some ! Map and Record your favorite fishing spots, view them on line or store to your device. I prefer to use my IPad for the storage , battery life, and screen size. I've used it only once because it's been raining a lot, but I put it on a 6.5' med. Abu Garcia BlackMax with 50lb braid and it casts perfectly even against the wind.
