MOWSFPBMRA214: GREAT - True and False
MOWSFPBMRA214 mower 21" electric start
REVIEW: Well, it did arrive quicker than expected (+). Basically, it required to bolt bottom bar and top bar and then to attach the plastic console - easy to assemble.
I would have thought it would work straight out of the carton box, it was not the case;
1. I downloaded the manual - "tick",
2. I initially charged the battery to the full charge - "tick", it took less than an hour,
3. I assembled the whole mower as one; no problem - "tick",
4. Added oil and petrol, inserted the battery and pressed the start button, instant start! - "tick"
5. Mowing; in less than 10 minutes the self-propelling action stopped, why?
6. There is a linkage from the upper bar to engage the mower to the rear wheels. This linkage has no adjustment to compensate for the routing of the linkage cable (the throttle linkage cable does). It makes it important to route the cable exactly as shown on the front picture in the manual but it is not stated in the manual. It is common sense to place all linkage and the cable on the inside of the folding top handle - but the manual does not state it. Why is it important? Because it will not stress the overall length of these two cables,
7. Cutting blades assembly does drive a V belt attached to the gear propelling rear wheels of the mower but it is not stated in the manual to be V-belt driven (I hope this gear box has metal gears in it!),
8. Found the V belt detached from the wheels driving gear pulley. Threaded it back to the pulley by hand (battery is off and spark plug disconnected - important!), restarted the mower "OK tick" but after 5 minutes of mowing I have lost self-propulsion again and yes - the belt detached again,
9. Found the spring that supposed to maintain the initial tension on the wheel gear box pulley to be detached (it was never attached in the first place - I just did not see it). I rerouted the V belt and reattached the spring. Took it for another mowing round - it worked.
10. Good product, clumsy manual, clumsy assembly. ABSOLUTELY NO PROYECTION cover over delicate carburettor external parts. MAKE YOUR OWN PROTECTION COVER!
NOTEs: The gas throttle linkage does have an adjustment to cover for some misalignment of the outer length of the initial linkage assembly. The self-propelling linkage does not - it can only be adjusted by tipping the lawn mower to the side to adjust the length of the inner cable. It is NOT stated in the manual and it is not easily accessible and expect some fuel loss when mover is tipped if full of fuel. The manual does not tell you how to immobilise the blades hard catcher (blades holding drum) while trying to remove it from the centre drive shaft. It should have this information because of the most common service - all 4 blades replacement (it is like replacing cutting wheel on the angle grinder - but without capability to hold in place the main cog. You cannot undo this massive nut by just holding the drum by one hand and operating the nut with the hand spanner. I wish you good luck! An impact driver could be the answer but the manual shows only a single picture indicating the hand spanner approach only.
SPAREs: The 4 blades 20" KIT P-MOWBKI-203 is quoted as compatible with the 21" MOWSFPBMRA214 mower in this review but the photos do not show these blade holding bolts be able to be removed with just a single hand spanner without spinning - I cannot see on this photo the bolt's "key" enabling to remove the blade with just one spanner (it is not EVIDENT from the photo). It should been in the manual - but it is not.
Talking back about the P-MOWBKI-203 kit - quoted dimensions are: L=6cm?, W=17cm?, H=5cm ???. 5cm will cut BRICKS in half (and the grass). Should it be the H=5mm? and are L and W not the other way around? - this is not just a single spotted mistake.
Purchasing just the blade replacements item P-MOWBLD-203: L=17cm, W=5.5cm, H=3cm ???. 3cm will almost cut a BRICK (and the grass). Should it be H=3mm?
SUMMARY: What are the specs I am not aware of because of misrepresentation/mistakes/typos? How do you protect your credibility and the reputation when supplying erroneous information to the customer? The correct information does boost sales, the BS does not.
