  • great camera

It's a nice camera. The features are takes a little getting used to. So far everything seems to hold up well and the pictures taken are clear enough. This camera might not be good for low lighting pictures tho

  • Sold full frame to buy this and it's magic!

Man oh man! Sold my Sony a7 and bought this, and i couldn't be happier:) For the last year i have been experimenting with all types of cameras-lenses and just simply couldn't find something that had it all! That Sony candy shine of night and the colors and magic of Canon during the day. So i spent time, and money and frustration and there was one that did it all...almost! The Canon g7xii is a great little camera:colors, low light..etc..but fixed lens and dust getting in. Two i bought(ruined cleaning)before i started on my last quest. Bought Sony a7..was ok but not for me. Enter the Nikon 1 j5 with 10-100mm and 18.5mm f1.8. I found the sensor in the Canon, no Low pass filter(even better)and lenses all you can buy! Native lenses provide the sharpest pictures, but with the Nikon ft1 you can use F and Dx lenses. What is the BIG SECRET to these great cameras, an why them?! Easy! The AMAZING 1" Sony sensor found in both of them. Both Canon and Nikon provide great color/options and i've reatched the end of my quest!$ Also there are Rokinon 500mm-1000mm manual telescopes that hook to the 1j5 with a simple adapter. This line is nit made anymore which is good, because cx lenses are going down in price and i have my eye set on the spendy(for now)70-300mm and the 30mm 1.2. and another body. Let everyone buy "features" and huge gear to look pro" i've found clean, sharp quality and low light with the right lens and simple manual shooting! As of 11-10-17 my Flicker page will be shot with the Nikon 1j5(grimrippa)

  • J5 fast and 20 MP- quality

The J5 is the top of the line 20+Megapixel Nikon affordable mirrorless body, no longer made. It will be a long time before most of us start in to the new Z Nikon mirrorless; with a $2,000 entry point before accessories on the Z bodies. I am buying these J5s up at a couple hundred dollars each, and the prime lenses vary wildly (10mm 2.8 at $70 vs the 32mm at $600.) Remember: for $15.00 a manual adapter can allow you to use any Nikon F mount lens ever made in manual mode. You don't get the automated features the 125.00 FT-1 adapter would provide, but you can shoot with crisp lenses you may already own. I see waterproof enclosures for less than $200. which is the difference in a AW-1 and it's equiv. like a J4. If you want the 20 MP and faster response, go with the J5 and an underwater housing. Shop around. There will be plenty of lenses on the aftermarket for a long long time. Don't be scared about the lack of warranty/used equip.

  • Totally worth relearning how to take pictures.

I made the switch from a standard DSLR (D5200) to the Nikon 1 J5 a few weeks ago. It took a good week of watching youtube tutorials (there are tons) to understand basic operations of the camera but it has totally been worth the trouble. I have a new passion for photography that I’d lost because lugging around a DSLR will make you hate taking photos. The small size and fast speed of the J5 are fantastic. #DitchTheDslr you’ll be glad you did. Photos below are straight out of the j5. No editing.

  • Perfect little DSLR for throwing in your backpack.

I really like this little system. It's very small and fits in my Satchel without taking much more space than a cell phone. I added a leather protective case and it still took barely any room. I have the 30-110 lens and the 18.5 lens plus 2 extra batteries. I threw all that in a 70-300 lens pouch and BAM! I have a full kit that only takes up 1/3 of the space in my small bag. The only reason im giving it 4 stars is the build quality. It just doesnt feel as solid to me as say my Pen F. But that aside, its great for running around with and it gives some beautiful color and sharpness.

  • Great small camera with lots of features.

Small but great camera, the zoom is only 3x, you can buy 10x lenses starting at 110 or buy an adaptor and use other Nikon lenses. Makes terrific night pictures without the flash.

  • Nikon 1 J5 & Lenses

Excellent mirrorless Nikon 1 model with many nifty features like Wi-Fi, flip out screen, and multi-mode automation. Package with all the Nikkor 1 Auto-focus lens was easily worth twice the negotiated price.
