For my application the PRO3X is as good as the PRO2X and less than half the cost!

We have two Dell Precision M6400's. One is used to its limits, the other more like a standard PC. The one used to its limits uses a PRO2X docking station to good effect. The other we bought the PRO3X ePort for with some reservations that it was not going to be able to handle the requirements. We have found that the PRO3X works great for this application and it was less than half the cost of the PRO2X. Strongly recommend this solution if you do not need all the bells and whistles on the PRO2X.

Item arrived and did not work

Disappointed to say that the item never worked. Seller agreed to send another as a replacement but it never arrived. He issued me a reimbursement.

  • Must have for multiple monitors

I have the same three monitor setup at home and work, so having a docking station makes setup and disconnect of the laptop a breeze, regardless of the location. Just buy two of them to duplicate whatever is in the office to the office at home. NO plugs, wires or any unnecessary time wasted, as it is all ready and waiting to be used, just drop the laptop onto the docking station and it makes all the connections work. Much cheaper to buy these on ebay than through Dell.

  • Dell PRO3X Docking Station

Smaller than I thought, but it works great. The small size is a nice surprise as I am used to ones that take a lot of desk space. It worked out of the box and is a great deal for those with older Dell laptops like me. I actually have a few of them and I tried it on 2 - it worked great. It also raises the laptop a bit to keep it cooler which is nice too. It is a solid little thing as well...

  • Good Legacy Port Replicator

While this item is very good, I'm not giving it 5 stars simply because of its compatibility with current peripheral devices. It does take a while to plug and play devices, some of which do not work. PROS Lightweight Adds more ports! low profile CONS Legacy is legacy - sometimes new devices don't work on it requires a beefy spacer for XFR model laptops

  • Works well, but careful with current model Dell Laptops

These docking stations have been around for many years, and while they still fit the docking port on the bottom of any Dell laptop, the design of newer laptops makes this a little less tidy than it used to be. I love being able to easily connect or remove my work laptop from my home office docking station, never having to plug or unplug cables. The docking station connects the power adapter, video monitor, mouse and keyboard, USB hub, and speakers to my DELL Latitude E5550 with ease. Align my laptop with docking station and press down to connect EVERYTHING. Push the release button and everything is disconnected and I am ready to take the Laptop with me out of the office. It's a truly great solution for anyone who regularly uses a laptop at a desk and while out of the office. Newer DELL laptops still have the same docking port on their under side, but not in the same position as it used to be. So while they will still work with this docking port, they are not going to sit in the same position as may be shown in some old photos or manuals. Because the docking ports are now more towards the back of newer DELL laptops, they will extend out and over the bottom edge of the dock rather than be snugly back up against the top part of the assembly like you may be used to. This more forward position means that the spring loaded extension plate that used to provide a resting place or stop for the front edge of the laptop can no longer reach far enough, even at maximum extension. If left un-extended this would angle the front edge of laptop up and out from the plane of the docking station, resulting in undue mechanical stress on the port connector as it would no longer be sitting flat. To counter this I cut a thin piece of plywood and pushed it into the recess on the surface of the dock, keeping the bottom extension at its maximum position all the time. The front edge of my laptop now rests on top of the extension plate rather than being retained by it. The result is a much flatter but not perfect angle of my laptop relative to the dock surface, and this seems to be an acceptable solution. I have been using it this way for months and have had no problem.

  • Latitude E Port

A great way to extend the usefulness of an older laptop. There are several versions and you have to make sure you get the one with the ports you need. Some do not have a wired network connection, which I wanted. Also make sure you're getting the right video connectors.

  • Exactly what I had at work

If you're a corporate flunky and need the same equipment at home to look like one when you're not in the office, this'll not only work the same as the docking station you have in the office, it'll work just as well. Had to sacrifice the second DVI port, but everything else is pretty much the same.

  • Great for in office

These help with the at home agents who come into the office. They allow the laptop lid to be closed and quick hookup to the monitor and network.

  • A must have!

I bought myself a Dell E6340 laptop to replace my aging Dell desk top. However, I didn't want to give up all the related wireless keyboard and mouse. My Dell 24" monitor was also important to me, so I needed this docking station. Great investment.
