    TP-LINK range extender

Purchased this after having connection problems to my computer (router -> 15m cat6 cable -> computer). I was getting irregular but frequent network drops. Bought this to try to solve my cable issue (running a 15m cable through the house was messy also). Now it is Router -> TP-LINK extender -> 1.5m Cat6 cable -> computer. I don't get the same high peaks in speed (46mbps anytime that my network was connected, still peaks at that but is now competing for Wi-Fi so it more often reaches 40mbps which is still perfectly fine). No network drops! Setup was very simple. Connected cable to pc and it automatically opened the TP-LINK settings page. Simple setup. Was up and running in minutes. No Wi-Fi extending at the moment, only connected to pc. Tested connecting the extender by 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, 5Ghz was still faster at about 10m from router + 3 walls between. No issues at all.

    tp-link range extender

This unit works well and extends to all areas of my house. One disadvantage: the unit has a European connection for power, and the adaptor that came with has a loose fit to the three-pin outlet in the wall, and also makes it point down. This is a problem if the power point is close to the floor.

  • A good device to extend the range of your existing wireless network.

I am using it as an AP to extend my wireless network footprint. It worked as a range extender (connected via wifi) but the throughput (upload/download speed) is much better when wired to my router on the gigabit port included. Setup was a cinch following the guide.

  • Streaming Interruptions Fixed

I've tolerated interrupted streaming of video services for far too long. At the suggestion of a friend, I bought this wireless range extender. The feature that I really like is the inclusion of a socket which I used to connect an ethernet cable directly from my TV to the extender. I now have uninterrupted streaming even though Optus give me a $20 credit on my Internet service each month because they acknowledge they are unable to deliver the 50 Mbs that I would otherwise be paying for.

  • Great booster

For a family member they were having issues watching Apple TV (especially Netflix) and using their laptop in the Granny Flat (converted garage) in the back yard of the parents house. They were getting major lag issues and slow speeds etc. I installed this device on the wall in the Granny Flat and suddenly the Apple TV had full signal from the house router and no more issues. Considering getting another one for the other end of the house which is a massive rambling 1940's house.

  • Gets the job done

I have bought 4 of these for myself and friends. Mine is installed in an outside power point, under cover and subject to 40°C in summer, that gives me coverage on a 1 acre block. It’s the only one that doesn’t over heat and start to go flakey, having tried 6 other types. I think it’s the 4 aerials and dual processor that make it more reliable. You need to upgrade the firmware otherwise Apple devices show it as weak security connection.

  • Great product at a high price

Easy to configure (especially to other TP-Link devices). Security settings are easy to set. The Repeater is a little large (compared to cheaper models from other manufacturers). Coverage/Power can be altered and so can the use of dual bands. LEDs can be turned off so the Repeater is not obvious to other people (but the antennas identify it anyway).

  • Good looking and easy setup

Easy setup using method 2 WPS installation. Time will tell if it sorts out video streaming buffering. Pity it covers up a second power outlet which can't be used. Looks modern and aesthetic.

  • It does what it says on the box

I wish I'd gotten one of these years ago, it would have saved me hundreds of hours of frustration. Highly recommended. edit: after a few weeks, the connection for the 5g drops out a lot, I don't know why. you are better off getting a mesh setup than buying this. the drop outs are getting to be incredibly annoying, sometimes for minutes at a time, i've checked if the router signal is still up and it is, only the extender has dropped. when it works it's great, but the drop outs seem to be getting more frequent. edit 2: it seems that the extender only has problems with its 5g receiver, if i connect it to the 2.4ghz network, it doesn't drop at all, and all this time it is projecting the 5ghz extended network, but when i connect it to the 5ghz network from the router, it starts having connection drops sooner or later, unfortunately the speed isn't as fast when it is connected to the 2.4ghz network but it is still pretty good (for australia anyway) i've looked up some reviews and other people have had the same issue as me, if they could fix the faulty 5g receiver, this would be a great item, as it is, you are probably still better off just getting a mesh network, but at least i can use the device now.

  • It won't fail you

Glad to have found this TP-Link RE450, very satisfy with the operation and even able to get full wifi signal at the backyard. The best was the setup so easy and used the same ID of my modem.
