Content good despite breakage of cases suffered during handling
As expected. Wife is a big fan and they are OK - especially compared to the tripe that passes for dramatic TV these days. The only issue I had was that the box was not packed with enough padding....to fully protect the plastic cases for the DVDs. Three of the nine cases had splits, breaks and other damage to them - which I mostly repaired with ample applications of Scotch tape. You shouldn't have to repair a product just because someone was careless or clueless about packing a breakable, fragile pro\duct for general delivery.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Perry Mason is wonderful, the DVDs have problems.
Unfortunately I cannot review every single episode before writing this review. I enjoy seeing character actors, actors who were big on radio and those that found a place on television when movies and radio were not so welcoming. But some of the discs are flawed in seasons 5 and 6 only episodes one and two play while 3 and 4 do not. There hasn't been time to review all nine seasons. I am not unduly dissatisfied, the price was great and only one episode was flawed in seasons one through three. I have not gotten around to seasons 7-9.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

❤️EXCELLENT Representation of late fifties/early 60s
I looked around and found that $80 was the best price I could get for this. I have enjoyed seasons 1–4 thusfar and have been EXTREMELY PLEASED.😁Perry Mason (Raymond Burr) wins almost every case and we are all very happy with that! His "supporting staff" are wonderful, but the police and the office at the DA appear pretty intent on convicting somebody regardless of conflicting or contrary facts until they are crushed by our Hero and his team... Satisfying for us to see bad guys/girls stopped from hurting an innocent person, but it implies clearly the truth… The American justice system is not so very just and plenty who are part of it are satisfied with inadequate proof or even circumstantial evidence to put people in prison or given the death penalty. Not a very good sign and this was 1957-1966! Think about how bad it has been over the years and with DNA testing readily available but prevented repeatedly… how many convictions could be overturned with the fairness of scientific proof that these people are not guilty. That is why many are against the death penalty… Enough that these people suffer for months or years unfairly, but to kill them and then find out they are innocent! Of course, we all want the guilty to "pay the price" but locking up and killing innocent people should not be a part of the process. 🔺This is a VERY WORTHY PURCHASE! One of the greatest and most enduring series ever broadcast!
This is an official CBS/Paramount Pictures complete set of every episode of the Perry Mason television series on 72 disks. Each season is presented on 8 discs. The quality is great, and unlike CBS All Access, it is not missing two complete seasons and episodes from various other seasons. None of the shows have been edited to allow for more commercials. Of course, once you have seen them all, you know who the murderer is and how the murder was committed, but with 270 episodes, it will probably take months of viewing to get through all nine seasons. Many are worth revisiting, even if the ending is known, particularly season 1, episode 13, which is actually the pilot and considerably different from subsequent episodes. The best of TV from the late 50's and early 60's
I have always been a fan of Perry Mason, with Raymond Burr. This set so far is excellent. I do miss the option for sub-titles, but other than that I'm enjoying an episode everyday. This is in Black and White. Color TV's hardly existed back then, so most TV shows of this time isn't in color. It's fun to see all the older stars, which unfortunately most have passed. There just hasn't been a court room drama as good as this one. If you like Perry Mason, you'll love this. I also purchased the set of TV movies.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
