Don't waste your time on cheap unsafe outlets, buy a high quality powerboard like this one
Ideal for computer desks. ALWAYS buy surge protected outlets! You don't want to lose anything valuable to a power surge, trust me. The USB outlets are a nice bonus. I'm planning to buy more of these as power hubs all around my house, since they make it so easy to charge phones and power any device. Since there are so many ports arranged on both sides of the outlet, it can even fit a few oversized plugs, which are usually such a pain with normal powerboards. It's also just a really sturdy-feeling piece of kit, not flimsy or badly made. I feel like this is an item I can put my trust in for a good long time, and thanks to the indicator lights I will probably know if a problem does develop. If you require surge protection this is one of the better spec'd ones out there. Surge Suppression = 2750 Joules.
