  • Pros/Cons

Pros: Small footprint, good set of dials and switches along with touch screen compliment/same function. Very fast AF under good lighting conditions. Good for single/multiple shooting. Good for travel photography, Street photography, and casual shooting. Cons: Video-record button easily accidentally trip and had to reassign to the M-fn button to avoid this. No full-articulation of screen; it folds downward and not sideways Therefore, cannot be used with a tripod. Cannot flip back screen so as to protect it. Poor low-light AF regardless of lens. HDMI port is too small causing difficulties with using a laptop for viewing. Does not support 4K video as does the M50 and several other make/model cameras of the same category. Choice of lenses of the EF-M mount lenses not as good as the Canon EF/EF-S, Therefore, have to use an adapter for EF/EF-S and faster lenses, which are large and heavy. Overall: Good small camera for small hands. It's not a pro or semi-pro camera such as the new R/RP series cameras. I would recommend for causal photo usage, family vacations and around the house. I shoot weddings and would prefer the 7D Mark II for that type of photography. And for videos... get another camera with better viewing abilities (full articulating screen) and 4K, such as a Sony, Nikon, or Fuji.

  • Excellent smaller camera with interchangeable lenses.

Very easy to use. I have a Canon M3 and this is very similar but adds the built-in EVF. Previous owner had preferences set up just like I would have, so that was nice. Looked like new, works for me. I just like to shoot garden photos. I can't leave home anymore, having a lot of physical difficulties, so this is helpful. I like to use it with the 15-45 lens, equivalent to 24-70 and focuses close, very handy. I love Canon color, always vibrant, like shooting Kodachrome back in the day.

  • Great for Vacation shots

I wish Canon would develop the M system for their APS-C system, and leave the R for FF. I love the compact size and image quality. It is very good for the time it was developed. Very good for vacation shots.

  • Not the latest, but still a very good camera and value

The Canon EOS M5 is a very good mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. It solves some of the shortcomings of Canon's earlier M-series cameras, especially in having faster autofocus and a built-in electronic viewfinder. Canon color rendition is excellent, in my opinion, and the M5 continues that tradition. Image quality is very good to excellent The camera is surprisingly light, comfortable in the hand and its ergonomics suit me fine. The menu system takes some getting used to, but I've seen much, much worse. The M5 is succeeded by two newer models, the EOS M6 and, just recently, the EOS M6 Mk. II. The used M5 body I bought is in very good shape and I consider its price fair at this point, making the camera a good value for what I paid. An add-on, external electronic viewfinder is available for the M6 and I think for the M6 Mk. II as well — as a pricey extra-cost option. That fact and my lack of interest in the M6 Mk. 11's 4K video capability are the main reasons I opted for a used M5.

  • TRAVEL-SIZE CAMERA WITH AWESOME IMAGE QUALITY

Nice little travel-size camera for photographing non-moving subjects, i.e. landscapes and architecture. It's loaded with great features like sensor stabilization to make hand-held photography sharper. The image quality is excellent and there are a nice selection of lenses available now to cover any travel photography requirements. Packs away neatly in your carry-on luggages or backpack, and is so easy to use, you'll be grabbing it anytime you need a far better image than you can get with your iPhone.

  • Exceptional mirrorless Canon ASP-C camera

The M5, currently Canon's top-of-the-line mirrorless ASP-C camera, is a joy to use. It features most of Canon recent innovations in sensors and rear, touch-focusing screens combined with a wonderful electronic viewfinder. It is small and light, so a joy to carry around. The Canon lens adaptor works perfectly to allow me to mount my Canon EF lenses. With built in filters and styles, it's by far the neatest Canon I have ever owned.

  • Very happy with my M5.

The Canon M5 is a few years old, but is a great camera. It has all the features that I wanted and awesome touch screen focusing. Now I need to become a good photographer.

I was looking for an EOS M camera and when I saw this for auction, I knew I had to have it. The camera was in great condition and works like a dream. The spare batteries and two chargers was a cherry on top. Thanks so much for selling me great camera!

Superb! The AF finger drawing on the touchscreen feature can be seen on the viewfinder, the AF following feature is so accurate! Very ergonomic on how the controls are located, and in the handling... Just to mention among many others characteristics...
