    Good but not great

I had the original 100-300 and didn't like the sharpness at anything over ~260-300. I sold it and got the 100-300 mk II. It seems that it pretty much has the same glass. The weather sealing is good and the auto focusing is faster but it isn't noticeably sharp at the long end. That being said, perhaps that is the best one can expect at that price point. At this price point, size, and weight I haven't found a comparable micro 4/3 lens that offers more. I'm sure it would be a hit if someone would make a sharper version of this lens.

Great price and weight but a tad soft

On the plus side, this lens is light and affordable. The image resolution is average, not as good as the 100-400 sibling but also half the weight and price. The auto focus is not as good as my other shorter focal length lenses, but In Nov 2018, Panasonic is supposed be coming out with a software update that will fix the focus problem. If this works, I’d add a star to my review. If razor sharp photo are your goal, spend more on the 100-400. If you work without a tripod, the 100-300 is a very nice compromise.

  • Good Enough Is Pretty Darned Good!

I've read the this lens is soft at its extremes. I think, in fact, this is true, but "soft" is relative. It produces useable images that satisfy my needs perfectly. If you're a pixel peeper and aren't happy with anything less that what a $2000 lens would produce, you might not like it. I don't have that need. The lens I received was in excellent condition. The included photo is of a radio tower that's a little over a mile away. I shot this hand-held at the 300mm setting.

  • Good VFM (Value-for-Money) Tele Lens

Purchased used in excellent condition and it is a great value at this price point (~30% less than new)., A nice addition to my lens kit and totally needed to cover the extended focal lengths. Tested in various scenarios and so far I am pleased with the results.

  • Great value for a super zoom...

I think it is a great value for a super telephoto. If you try to shoot somewhere in the middle, like f8 and fast enough to cover any movement, it takes great photos. Considering the range, it is small and solid....and priced right!

  • My walk around lens for most everyday compositions. Ideal for those looking into an affordable super telephoto zoom lens.

The optical stabilization is great for handholding this lens to shoot. Whether birding from a distance, shooting lunar photography, capturing landscapes from afar or forest details up close, this lens has me covered for the way I prefer shooting. The metal mount gives it some durability, while the plastic body keeps the weight down. Lens creep has not been an issue thus far.

  • Must -have lens

Great lens. For a long lens it is easy t use. The built in OIS is excellent. Use it a lot for wildlife and have got great shots without a tripod

  • Very nice lens!

I am enjoying my new Lumix G Vario 100-300 ll lens. Photos are nice and sharp and the image stabilization in the lens works great with the in-camera stabilization on my Panasonic G85. I am very happy with this purchase.

  • Low weight long reach

This lens arrived new in original packaging. I can actually use and hand hold this lens. It is 1/4 the weight of a full frame lense
