Big Storage in Little S.S. Drive
Bought to replace a conventional external usb drive....which failed. Love everything about this Samsung S.S. drive, so far. It is faster and very small. Purpose served is a backup drive attached to laptop. Do not have hard empiricle data, but impression is much faster than the replaced drive. Big things DO come in small packages
Purchased this SSD exclusively for Time Machine backups on my iMac. After reading countless reviews on various sites, I followed their recommendations. I deleted all of the Samsung software by reformatting the drive to Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted). The drive automatically backs up every hour on the hour and has performed flawlessly. The drive is perfect for taking with you because it will fit into any pocket with room to spare. The combination of SSD plus USB 3 make it a speed demon. Small size, lightning fast, and plenty of storage capacity. What more can you ask? Oh yeah, the price. That's great too. 1TB used internally!
I've had great luck with previous Samsung external SSD models, so I expect that this one would work wonderfully as well. However, I bought it to disassemble and use its internal mSata card. As best I could search, this external product was less expensive than that internal component by itself. Go figure! But it works like a charm as the second SSD in my Lenovo laptop. Blazing fast!
So in love with it. Using it with a Macbook Pro to set up as external / separate drive to allocate Disk Cache and Media Cache folders for configuration of Adobe After Effects an Premiere Pro. The result is that rendering speed for previews and editing has accelerated dramatically. And it's so light and its footprint so small that I can leave it permanently connected to my MBP by attaching it to the laptop's cover using velcro, and voilà!
