Cannon G1x Mark III. Perhaps the best of the G series.
I moved up from A G9 to the G1X Mk III. I was quite a jump. Especially low light. The covered lens and Screen on the 1X are also an improvement, However the G9 has a heavier and more substantial feel. The G1X is larger. Barely fits in your pocket. Favorite camera ever!
Tack sharp focus and crazy-fast autofocus! Image quality is beautiful. Love the size. Though it isn’t as pocketable as the SX720, the feature and controls make strike a great balance between size and functionality. I can’t say enough good things about this camera. Yes, some people complain there is no 4K video and no mic jack.....but honestly, this camera is NOT for that. It’s a still camera that CAN take videos, but video isn’t its forte. And that’s fine. It’s a butt-kicking compact camera with a APS-C crop sensor, in-camera RAW processing, touch-screen focus controls, articulating screen, and hardware dial for exposure. Also, 24 megapixels... yeah. I haven't used it much yet and am still learning its features and capabilities. In many ways it is similar to my Canon 80D, and that helps. One thing I am still learning is how to obtain a sharp focus with it. One problem is that I try to focus too close to the subject. This camera will focus only to about 10 cm.
