Arris AC1750 Surfboard Modem Review
This is a good product. It performs as well as, and has almost all the functionality of the similar Xfinity modem. One thing that is different is that the 2 phone ports that it has, which the Xfinity modem also has, is that it is configured to have 2 different phone lines as opposed to having them be parallel ports, like the Xfinity model. Easy installation and configuration. Very powerful cable modem with many features.
Right out of the box took about 5 minutes to install after registering it with cable company. This modem provides two signals that can be split for access such as home and guest or parents and kids. admin panel can be accessed easily to changes password for the two log-ins for the signals. The new technology in this modems speeds up the download capability by multi times. The wireless speed is much hire than the wired download speed. It is a jaw dropper. Faster Modem Upgrade
Although it doesn't have antennae, it is taller than the other Arris Surfboards. It has white lights indicating the operations which are easy to discern. It also has a backup battery, although purchased separately, which helped during Hurricane Dorian to bridge the power outage and keep the internet on for my phone. Great Docsis 3 cable modem with phone service capability. Optimized for Xfinity service.
I bought this cable modem for my area's fastest internet provider and the technicians had nothing but good things to say about this particular model. They said it is capable of faster speeds than the other modems they use, faster speeds than the provider can produce, which tells me it will be the only modem I will need for quite some time. This model has the voice capability so you can use it for phone service as well. If you don't need it for phone service, there are cheaper versions of this modem that will serve you well. I wanted to buy a modem instead of rent it from the provider service because it will for itself within a year. I had this service before and even though you can have it replaced for free if you are renting it, I had the service for about 5 years and could have bought 5 modems if I bought them myself instead of renting so if you can fork out $200 or less it is worth it in the long run. Very easy to set up and customize for my internet needs. Works with Xfinity Comcast. I just have a phone/internet bundle (saves to bundle, otherwise internet only costs more). Plug and Play, good range
For a change, I did read the instructions, however, this modem was plug and play. We already had Comcast service, cable/internet/phone. I did not need to call Comcast once for help, YAY! This unit serves a large house and basement (I do use an extender there) and also has good range for the outside spaces. The Most compatible with Comcast
For price and performance, this is probably the best modem router combination that works with Xfinity. Unlike other modems, this one is easy to set up, and Comcast lets you connect it yourself without having to involve a tech. All you need to do to get it connected is use the app, and within minutes you will be surfing. Keep it mind, it will take a few days for the modem to become fully integrated into your home network. This modem is future proof. Comcast has been using it for years and just can't seem to part from it. That's because it is one of the best modem that Arris makes...pound for pound, dollar for dollar. And best of all, it is quiet, and does not dissipate a lot of heat. I caught one on Black Friday for under $40 and I am so glad I did.
