It is solar heat sensitive that open the vent when weather warms up and then closing when it cools down. Really works well in maintain the greenhouse within the preferred temperature range. Solar heat sensitive vent opener, automatic stretch or shrink the vent while the temperature is changing.

Self opener does work
After putting up our hot house we would have to go out in the morning and open the windows. Then in the evening do the reverse! I was going to rig up an electric system hooked onto a thermostat until I saw the auto opener. Being sceptical I purchased one only to test how it worked, on receiving it and installing it I kicked myself for not buying two. The system works.. The only drawback to it is that you can not fine tune it, in that it will start to open at about 17 degrees where I would have liked at about 20. But then again the window will only open a little bit it takes it to about 26 to 28 to open the window the whole way, so only a little bug bear. I can't talk about it's longevity because it's only been in 3 weeks, nor has it gone through summer yet! That will be telling on how long a term the pressure cylinder will function, but for now it does what it says it does and open and close our hot house vents. I have ordered a second one but time will tell I guess to how long term it will work.

The strut doesn't work properly .temp has got over 34 degrees in the greenhouse and the window opener strut only extends to half the length it should
