NotesDeluxe edition includes bonus tracks and expanded packaging. 2017 release, the 14th studio album from the Irish quartet. Songs of Experience was produced by Jacknife Lee and Ryan Tedder with Steve Lillywhite, Andy Barlow, and Jolyon Thomas. The album is intended to be a companion piece to U2's previous record, Songs of Innocence (2014). Whereas it's predecessor explored the group members' adolescence in Ireland in the 1970s, Songs of Experience thematically is a collection of letters written by lead vocalist Bono to people and places closest to his heart. The personal nature of the lyrics reflects a "brush with mortality" that he had during the album's recording. Includes the single "You're the Best Thing About Me".

    Stink Stank Stunk

    This is easily the worst work U2 has released. Bono rehashes the same lyrical inspiration and even phrases he has been beating to death while, once again, staying completely in a safe zone vocally. Musically they have all but given up on staying original. There are times it is blatantly obvious that they reached out to others such as Chris Martin for songwriting help. They even fell victim to using Auto-tune as if it would somehow make them more relevant. All of this is coming from a U2 Fan from the very beginning. If this is what they have left, the end is near. Three words describe this album: Stink, Stank, Stunk.
