Somewhat disappointing but still fun to watch

For starters the movie is too long. Had they cut it down to two hours they could have had an exciting classic Star Wars film. After The Force Awakens I was anxious to see what was going to happen but after The Last Jedi I was not feeling the same. As it is it is somewhat disappointing. Having said that I did like the story and it had some good action and it was fun to watch. I do think Disney is going to kill the franchise. A new Star Wars movie every year is a bit much. When Star Trek released Nemesis it was poorly received. They then a a five year period of no Trek & then Star Trek came out in 2009 and set a Star Trek box office record. Star Wars needs to do the same thing. IF not I fear the end of an era.

    Franchise low

I can only consider this product a good value as I acquired it at a fair price in my case. On the whole, I cannot recommend this movie at all. The script was poorly written, the humor is obnoxious and constantly undercuts the film's attempts at drama, and on the whole it doesn't fit the tone or direction of the franchise. At least one impactful scene is only available as an extra as it was cut from the film's final version, but there was time for a 'your mom' joke and a vulgar scene I don't quite know how to summarize. It's like the movie was made by some college kid who thought they were edgy and smarter than everyone else and wanted to be able to yell 'gotcha!' That doesn't make for a great, or even adequate film.

  • detailed view of watching the picture.

At lot of unexpected twist and turns in the movie. Luke skywalker reverts back to days he attempted to train kylo ren, but ended up the same format as return of sith. Obi Won Kenobi tried to train anakin but it backfired. But skywalker ends in more cautious about still a spirit like kenobi was star wars a new hope. But it classic movie that will keep your attention from start to finish in my opinion after viewing it 3 times pretty intense things going in this picture.

  • Heading in a new direction

I am a Star Wars fan from the beginning. That being said I looked forward to this movie immensely. However I felt that there was a lack of continuity from the previous movies, too many unanswered questions about the rise of the First Order and the events that took place after Episode VI. However in my view, while this movie is not perfect, it stands well on its own and was thoroughly exciting. I just wish Disney would not tinker so much with the core flavor of the franchise and try to turn it into something that it isn't. It's good old-fashioned Science Fiction, that's why it has appeal over so many generations.

  • Star Wars: The Last Jedi...

A great and entertaining movie! I enjoyed it a lot, however I found it just a little bit long and drawn out, and unlike the previous The Force Awakens, I had no desire to watch this one over and over again. But still, it follows in the Star Wars tradition of excitement and enjoyment, and I do recommend it for every single fan.

  • Enjoyable Episode 8 - positive and mildly critical review - no spoilers

Entertaining with a few flaws / plot holes, but overall I will recommend this movie. If you're a fan of Star Wars, The Last Jedi is a significant sequel to the already successful franchise by George Lucas. There's enough surprises and anxious moments to keep adults and younger viewers entertained. I plan on watching the blu ray again, and have already watched it twice now. Well put together scenes, costume design, and wonderful set design providing a very contemporary glossy backdrop for both the small and epic fight scenes. The introduction of new characters were kind of weak and second rate, but understandable since the main focus should be on Luke, Leia, Rey, Kylo, Poe, Finn, etc. There's enough left unanswered and unexplored in Episode 8 to keep fans hanging. George Lucas was neither director, writer, or producer on this one so I don't know what my expectations were. Episode 9 is in production at the time of this review which should be the final chapter. JJ Abrams will be directing and hopefully he will deliver at least on the visuals. Actually, he should be able to deliver on carrying the story and these characters to some meaningful conclusion upon its release date of December 2019. I'm sure the death of Carrie Fisher had a big impact on the story arc and we'll see how that gets resolved amongst other things. I have just purchased the soundtrack / CD for Episode 8 and so far sounds good. I might write a review for that in the future. May the force be with you....

  • New direction for the Force!

The middle film of this Star Wars trilogy carefully lays the groundwork for the explosive finale to come! We understand more about the strength and motivations of the enigmatic, powerful character Rey; and we get a glimpse of the possible future direction of the Force in the Star Wars universe.

  • The last Jedi

This movie has become more feminized to make it a politically correct movie. I own all the Star Wars movie episodes and I was really expecting more from this movie but it really was a let down for me. I thought the older master Jedi Skywalker will show the Emperor and the Imperial empire their final downfall but Disney’s executives decided to raise up the bar for feminism even though the movie Star Wars began as an action movie with the good guys as main characters and actions to victory will complete the series but it’s not to be. Glad I didn’t see it in a theatre.

  • Too Much Star Wars

I am big Star Wars fan but I think it is time for Disney to let it go. It feels like they are telling the same story with different characters. The story and characters seem old and unimaginative. It's entertaining but does not live up to the hype.
